How nice is it to get one over the cats. Especially when they outplayed us for much of the game. But we overran them in the last.

After the cats consistently doing it to us. It’s nice to get one back.
Disagree they outplayed us for much of the game. We Cleary outplayed them the first quarter and half and the whole last. They had the 3rd and half the 2nd.

What a beauty! Despite umpires respect crap and Hawkins and Cameron diving for frees we won.

Newcombe a bloody warhorse. Mitchell and Sicily supreme. Today was just a really hard fought effort.

Over the past weeks you can see the high level of fitness is fantastic, with a young very fit team.

Mitchell take a bow. Reeves was excellent before his shoulder injury. Frost, Hardwick and Denver battled hard all day. Phillips did some good things as did Worpell I thought. Shiels I thought also did some good things.

Got to love how we ran at the Cats in the first then were able to do it again in the last against the momentum.
Reckon its their kryponite and other sides will follow suit .

Loving these contributions too from the young fellas . Ward and Cmac always do those little few things that scream class .
You know theyll be guns.
Huge pat on the back to Kosi who stood up without Reeves and Nash who now is your bonafide AFL utility for us .

Newc has to be value pickup in the comp over the past 12-18 months

Geez! How is the never die attitude building at this club. Could have easily dropped that especially when the umpires were intent to get Geelol over the line. Fought to the end and I'm immensely proud. #alwaysHawthorn

What an amazing gutsy win.

Jai set the tone from the opening bounce and was just an absolute weapon all day.

Sic absolutely dominant.

After Reeves went down and the usual bizarre umpiring against them the boys could've easily wilted. But they kept fighting and thoroughly deserved the win.

What a response from last week. Couldn't be prouder.

Sky is the limit for this group.

Thank you Sammy Mitchell!

Master class while losing the only Ruckmen in the first quarter.

What a win
- Stuck with the back 6 after a drubbing last week!
-Stuck with Duke and Ward in the guts most of the day today, (Jaeger pushed out)

Fast tracking the development of all involved, all this with a list mostly made up off 2nd and 3rd rounders. I can't wait to see what he can do with more top end calibre and recruiting with a full salary cap.

I can assure you he does not do the defensive work at stoppages, which is why our midfield has been so poor for 4ish years. Nash and Newcombe are our only midfielders that show defensive intent.
I can assure you he does at stoppages. Sure Newk and Nash are more defensive around the ground but at stoppages O'Meara is the one

There should have been a double 50 when Hawkins gave away the first 50 by encroaching and then throwing his arms to the side
Two sets of rules
Sicily should have been having a shot from the goal line

Breust has now kicked 10.2 for the year... his 2 points have been posters.
Lewis presented well all game and created contests didn't clunk those marks but still managed 3 goals, huge work rate.
Moore lightning again in the first half, lead the team again for score involvements currently 8th in the league.
Newcombe what more can you say, top 5 for distance covered and most meters gained on the ground.
MacDonald Some class ball movement that was utterly vital in the final quarter, was gliding on the grass when Geelong players were treading water
Worpel A huge comeback great attack on the ball, ball use still a concern but he has a place with that effort and attack.
Scrimshaw Was alright for the first 3 but stood up with smart ball use, tap on's and just getting a hand to the contest whenever the ball went near him in the last quarter.

Ran over the top of them. They rely on too few whereas we had an amazing spread.

Newk, Mitch, Sic, Scrim, CJ, Moore, Bruest, Gunston, Dimma, Frost, Worps, Ward, CMac and Impey were superb.

Never been prouder to be a Hawks fan than today. Thought they would get over the line with their usual suspects but we responded to the surge they got from some questionable calls and took it to them.

Thought Shiels and Phillips added a harder edge. Wasn’t Morrison’s best game but he kept on putting himself in the right spots and was key in the last.

Hopefully Ned’s injury isn’t too serious.
You'd have to add Morrison to that mix as well. Best game from him.

They outplayed us in the 2nd and 3rd qtrs and it was only due to us losing Reeves. Once the team adjusted to the situation we backed our runners to finish off strong and that's what happened. Stewart was the only reason the wall didn't break completely. The guy is an immense player.

Very satisfying 😀
