I don't understand why anyone would trade McKenzie. Day out surely means a better role?

After toying with trading in and out rookies and what not, decided I'll hold off trading for the third week in a row.
Only concern I have is when our rookies reach their highest value, we won't have any to trade down to.

Does it make sense bringing in any ruck other than English for Witts? Marshall is my R2
It did make more sense before Day's two week penalty was announced.I don't understand why anyone would trade McKenzie. Day out surely means a better role?
Fair callAs much as I'd love him to play bulk midfield minutes, realistically, he's 5th/6th in the current rotation (Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Sparrow, Rivers and Harmes/Jordon are all going to spend as much/more time through there).
Look at the West Coast game for example. If there was ever going to be a game to give him big midfield minutes, that would've been it. Instead, he still only attended 6/30 CBAs.
He's definitely playing a bit higher up the ground, but he's not going to feature at many stoppages around the ground, especially once the ball hits the back 50. His bread and butter is still being a link man around half-forward.
You'll see him attend the first CBA every quarter, but there won't be many besides those.
Here's his heat map from last week for example:

Do I think he's a bad pick? No. I think with Melbourne's upcoming draw, he could go bang and be a decent stepping stone to a proper premo at the byes, but I wouldn't be picking him expecting a keeper.
I think Pickett over Chandler is definitely an upgrade, but IMO, not one that's worth using a boost and culling two good rookies early.
Stats indicating Laird’s handball receives & tackles are down this yearHodor the perfect example. It can turn quickly.
Fair call
IMO he doesn’t even need too much CBAs
He’s an impact player, and if he kicks straighter it’s an easy ton
He’s coming into my team, and will help me to field one less rookie

I suspect as the season progresses & the coaches find ways of applying defensive brakes …. we’ll see more stoppages and Laird back into his groove
That said, i can’t trust him with the (C)
JVR's spot being at risk over the next few weeks is a shitter.
I have the cash to get Ryan instead, but it would jeopardise my plans of hopefully getting both Cogs and Day in a couple of weeks without having to trade Ashcroft or Hopper.
I’ve had a chat with Cogs, he promised no more stinkers from here onIn two weeks I'll target one of Day or cogs .
Day might cheaper .
Unless cogs really sinks it up.
I reckon Day gets downgraded to a weekIn two weeks I'll target one of Day or cogs .

200k bank.
Options:
A) Young > Dawson *
B) Young > Stewart *
* potentially Mac/Davey > JVR
C) Mackenzie > JVR + Jones > Stewart
If Witts out again
D) Witt’s > Grundy + Young > Dawson + Chandler > Pickett
Thoughts please?
I reckon Day gets downgraded to a week
