After toying with trading in and out rookies and what not, decided I'll hold off trading for the third week in a row.

Only concern I have is when our rookies reach their highest value, we won't have any to trade down to.

Lucky you .

Not copping any carnage .

Yep we need rookies bye rds 7,8 when they might need to slaughtered

As much as I'd love him to play bulk midfield minutes, realistically, he's 5th/6th in the current rotation (Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Sparrow, Rivers and Harmes/Jordon are all going to spend as much/more time through there).

Look at the West Coast game for example. If there was ever going to be a game to give him big midfield minutes, that would've been it. Instead, he still only attended 6/30 CBAs.

He's definitely playing a bit higher up the ground, but he's not going to feature at many stoppages around the ground, especially once the ball hits the back 50. His bread and butter is still being a link man around half-forward.

You'll see him attend the first CBA every quarter, but there won't be many besides those.

Here's his heat map from last week for example:

Do I think he's a bad pick? No. I think with Melbourne's upcoming draw, he could go bang and be a decent stepping stone to a proper premo at the byes, but I wouldn't be picking him expecting a keeper.

I think Pickett over Chandler is definitely an upgrade, but IMO, not one that's worth using a boost and culling two good rookies early.
Fair call

IMO he doesn’t even need too much CBAs

He’s an impact player, and if he kicks straighter it’s an easy ton

He’s coming into my team, and will help me to field one less rookie

Hodor the perfect example. It can turn quickly.
Stats indicating Laird’s handball receives & tackles are down this year

I suspect as the season progresses & the coaches find ways of applying defensive brakes …. we’ll see more stoppages and Laird back into his groove

That said, i can’t trust him with the (C)

Completely agree with this

Now that Chandler, Spargo etc require more attention and Melbourne playing the bigs he can often go unnoticed up the field and get easy touches, a lot of the Melb forwards play extremely high

He's a high point per possession player, aka Heeney like

I don't see why he can't average 95 imo

Larid is still a gun.

But crows have a different set up in the mids ,they prob needed to because more of the same won't get them anywhere.
Add Dawson, Rachele etc.
To go with they were the team with the most stoppage last year..Larid a pig at the stoppages.

All this is less points so far this year .
He still prob going 110 plus .

Not the 130 we wanted .

JVR's spot being at risk over the next few weeks is a shitter.

I have the cash to get Ryan instead, but it would jeopardise my plans of hopefully getting both Cogs and Day in a couple of weeks without having to trade Ashcroft, Ginbey, or Hopper.

Ryan about 30k more better JS.

Surely your wookies can pick up the slack ..over the next 2 weeks .
Or it might be one of Day or cogs

In two weeks I'll target one of Day or cogs .
Day might cheaper .
Unless cogs really sinks it up.
I’ve had a chat with Cogs, he promised no more stinkers from here on :p

I have both Tom Mitchell & Mason Wood.

Who would you drop punt out for Clarry?

Yes.

Suspect Dawson gets more attention now though, might help Laird a bit. It's the tackles that are killing him.

Ben Brown news has me concerned

Dawson + JVR vs Stewart + Sampson is the conundrum

Currently favouring option 1 to score more but cheep cheep Stewart and some better JS is tempting.
