I'm considering something like this.
Keep coming back to this trade.

Chandler stuck on my bench scoring nice points, am sad to see him go, but happier to see Pickett come in.

Add in Doch to Gull, and there's my third boost gone for the season.

Why are you so keen on it? Legitimately wondering.

Chandler and Baker both have negative breakevens (-4 and -15 respectively), so still have plenty of cash gen in them. Both look locked into their sides, and then you're bringing in a speculative midpricer (albeit with a high ceiling) and a KPF with consistency issues who might be gone in 2 weeks anyway. Pickett averaged 66 last year - you'd need him to hit $500k to be worth it, which means he needs to increase his average by about 30 to be a worthwhile pick. As a small forward.

Just as likely Pickett will tap out at $440kish, JVR gets dropped for Brown or Gawn, you've burned 2 trades and a boost to get pretty much the same cash gen anyway?

Sorry if it's been discussed already, but really don't love the opportunity cost of that set of trades.

So after looking at making no trades I'm now considering Docherty > Haynes, Chandler > Pickett and maybe even a boost for Wilmot > Michalanney.

Rampe and Rivers are also other options to trade Docherty to instead of Haynes, none of them are ideal but they seem to be the best of the mid pricers.

Danger of over thinking!

Decided not to boost this week.

Currently tossing up between trading Doc to Stewart or Touk.

With Ziebell and Sheezel becoming def eligible trading Doc to a defender doesn’t seem entirely necessary.

Would appreciate any thoughts. Team is below with approx $130k in the bank.

Hold off the boost and go Doc > Stewart, Witts > English.

Can't bring myself to trade in Samson Ryan unless Dimma sways me that he is their numero uno for the time being. Think if he job shares with Miller, then your potentially stuck with a perennial 40-50 scorer who won't amount to anything.

Chandler and Baker are both on my bench, as cash generating rookies, not on the field scoring points.

Their purpose is to get me closer to a premo.

Everyone is writing Pickett off as an 80avg MP. I see him as a Cameron/Greene type goal scoring forward who gets enough of the ball.

We've had 2 games to see of Pick, if he goes 110+ again, are you going to bring him in? What about if he goes 90 after that, is he worthy enough of an F6 spot?

5 behinds on the weekend as unc kindly pointed out to us, I don't need to oversell him, but in my eyes he can be a keeper.

JVR is too much of a talent to be thrown back to the 2's. He would need to really stink it up, but with the crowd behind him like no other rookie I've ever seen with my own two eyes, I am willing to take the risk on the Melbourne boys.

Yes, Chandler can still go huge and maintain a 75+ average, but upgrading him to Pickett in my eyes is upgrading a premo rookie for a potential premo, all for <100k.

Also, this move gets one less shitetruck rookie off the field for me, and my team will be nicely balanced next week with DPP.

Greene and Cameron have only managed 90+ avg seasons 5 times and 3 times respectively.

And they've been thereabouts in the conversation of the best dozen or so forwards over the last decade.

Reckon people are expecting too much of Kozzie given DPP has increased how much you should be expecting from your keepers at both ends of the ground.

Crazy that people are happy to trade out Chandler at this point in time for anything less than a bona fide premo.
Likewise Mackenzie. Or really any unforced rookie changes when they've still got ~$50k to make given the potential rookie drought we could be entering and the question marks over those that are options this week.

Agreed. One of the best performing rookies.

Happy to be corrected, but AFAIK he’s already earnt more cash that any rookie except Sneeze and yet still has a negative BE.

And in terms of average score, he’d be right up there too. Behind Sneeze but on par with Ashcroft, McKenna and Ginbey.

Tend to agree, but in my case turning MacKenzie into MVR enables me to get Clarry for Doch

I could get behind a move that involves losing one for say JDG or King Gull if your thesis was that they will be top 8 keepers.

Both potentially $100k undervalued, no more upgrades required.

It’s trading the likes of Chandler off, when as you say, he’s got ~50k to go, for a speculative midpricer that leaves me scratching my head.

But who does missing the cash gen prevent you from getting down the track? Macca got another 100k to make at least I reckon. Clarry will have a bad game or two.

I've been saying it all week, to get Pick this week, without cash ITB, a premo rookie needs to be culled early.

Problem if I go with Mackenzie is that with all the changes this week, he actually ended up on my bench. If I keep Chandler, I have one too many fwd rookies and Ashcroft gets benched instead.

Here is my team after Doch > Gull.

With the Chandler trade, Cogs goes to mids for Baker and Pick comes on the field. Next week Sheezel, McKenna, Ginbey, Ashcroft and Mackenzie are my only rookies left on the field.

I get having Chandler in your trade plans next week (pending his score this weekend) if Williams looks the goods and given Greene's just gotten a spike score, but this definitely seems a week, minimum, too early.

Yeah, I plan to trade both of them in the next couple of weeks to get Day and Cogs if I can manage it. Pickett just wayyyy too speculative for mine.

He's not making $150k and even if he did, minimum $50k of that is offset by what you lose trading rookies early.

Is Jones-Michallaney too sideways if it gives me the little bit of extra coin I need to get Doc-Dawson? Could also trade Amartey or Callaghan but ny gut tells me they are more likely to have a spike game than Jones. Callaghan could have scored well last week if he tidied up his DE% a little. Michallaney has so many scoring avenues. He tackles, takes intercepts, rebounds and gets touches. Didn't realise he was only 190cm, for some reason I thought he was key position. Is there a world where he makes another 150k? WaynesWorld19

Also weighing up a boost:

Doc-Dawson
Callaghan-Pickett
Amartey-JVR

Can't afford Samson Ryan unfortunately.

Can also afford Tylar Young but probably won't make another 100k.

I don't see JVR holding his spot although I expect Melbourne will take a cautious approach. I don't trust KPFs, but it does get me Kozzie who I believe will easily make 120-150k. One long term injury to any Melbourne player (probably Viney) and he could be a keeper in a 35%+ CBA role.

Long story short, people wrote off Ziebell, and look at him now. Potential D6 keeper. Same hope I have for Pick as a potential F6 keeper.

It looks like Michallaney is benefiting from Dawson's move into the midfield .....10 intercept marks last week

I can see him averaging 75 for the season .....rough calculation $375K, maybe making $130K
