One of the funniest moments of the last few years has to be when kingy stated on 360 last year that top 8 teams were 8-8 against each other as some evidence of how even the league was. Rather than basic mathematics.

Robbos big dumb ‘wow’ that followed was just the best.
I'm probably misunderstanding your comment, but doesn't basic maths suggest that it's possible for one team in the top 8 have played the other seven teams twice, won all of them, and be 14-0?

Don't want to sound like a smart arse but Rich was our only All Australian last year
And very well deserved. I think the comment was more related to a defensive core whose primarily role is as stoppers rather than the springboard defenders like Rich or now Zorko from whom it is equally important to launch slow play down by finding marks after change of possession and ideally launch counter attacks.

For what it's worth I became a Lions junkie is around 2008 rather than a casual follower and dove into the draft that year so Rich would be pretty much my favourite Lion ever. I feel like I've invested in his career somehow since that first moment of joy of getting him at 7. A good and surprisingly rare insight into his character in the Robbo and Zorko podcast recently by the way, worth a listen (I think it was called Richy 2fifty).

Yes but then all other 7 have lost twice, making it 14-14
It’s as mattsmob says, if you have 20 games between top 8 sides there will be an equal amount of wins and losses.

Here’s the clip for context:

I think Kingy went out on his own with that one.
I don’t think that come from Champion Data. 🤔

People forget that Gardiner is only 26 years old. He has plenty of good years in him. Jack Payne has a big body, but he is miles off Gardiner in terms of learning the dark arts of defence. I posted elsewhere that Darcy needs to pay closer attention to his direct opponent and I’m sure that we will see that this week. Gardiner’s strength is that he can be counted on to take the correct option when he has the ball in hand when he is “hot” and our defence is under the pump. He is not known for his intercept marking, but he takes his share, but it is in the heat of the kitchen that he does best. Jack Payne does not have the same football IQ at this stage. Ball in hand, I rate Gardiner alongside Rich and Lester.

Yes I must agree, I think he's about to go full Patfull.
