Now the cultures fixed do you think the Pies could un-trade Dawes, Thomas, Wellingham and Shaw. They really aren't getting much from Taylor Adams (Shaw), Freeman (Thomas), Kennedy (Dawes) or Broomhead (Wellingham).

I know the 4 players traded out haven't exactly done much since but put them back in and the Pies are a legitimate flag chance.

Still one of the most intriguing decisions you will ever see when a club trades out 4 best 22 players in the prime of their careers only a couple years after winning a flag.

So far Bucks has kind of been proven right by how well the kids are going, but at the same time he's wrong unless they win a flag and that would probably be best achieved with Pendles, Beams, Reid and Cloke at their prime and some older guys like Swan, Ball and Maxwell still around.
We got Scharenburg for Thomas, Grundy for Wellingham, no way you wouldn't be happy with those two.Adams just has to wait till Ball retires to get his turn and Broomhead has had glandular fever and injuries so the jury is still out. I am happy with everyone of those trades

As I said before the game, you can only play as well as your opponents allow you.

This is true, but you can also only play as well as you play. The tackle count to half time showed just how poor our intensity was; that wasn't just Collingwood. Nor did the Pies have anything to do with Carlton missing too many players. Credit to you, you completely outplayed us and your list has greater depth in quality and quantity, but that doesn't make it unreasonable to consider the whole picture.

If I ever see anything building at Carlton I'll be sure to share my opinion with all and sundry, it's just that I haven't in the past five years and guess what, I feel as though I have been spot on the money.

Rubbish. Even when Carlton were improving you were still trotting out the same lines.

It's a reasonable point to make. Add Curnow, who has been an important player for the Blues this year and last and Carrazzo. Maybe even Bell, who shouldn't be out there; guy's playing with one hand. While it doesn't excuse the tripe we served up last night, it does add food for thought when using last night's game as a means of looking at where this Carlton team is at.
Well, if you want to be entirely reasonable, Collingwood was missing 5 premiership players from the best 22, and played an overall younger and less experienced side than Carlton...

My stance was that Carlton didn't have the list to contend for a premiership. And guess what?

I never stated they weren't improving. After all, it was a very low base from which they were coming.

Highly unlikely we were ever going to win the flag that year.

You want to pot Laidler, but he was a very important player for us back in 2011. You can't just ignore the impact 3 knee dislocations had on the guy.
I've never potted Laidler, think you're confusing me for another poster.
