The Beagles have a bye next week so pretty sure Ryan is straight back in.

Well ok then,

Out: Barrass, Sheed, Cripps
In: Edwards, Edwards, Ryan

We can't play with 1 tall back, especially since it would be Gov. Harry Edwards only choice we have as Barrass will be suspended. Luke Edwards concussion protocols comes straight back in, has done nothing wrong all season and amongst our hardest runners. Stiff shit Sheed, did nothing with his 17% game time anyway. Ryan is simply a better player than Cripps. Case can be made for Brockman going out, but unless Cripps is setting the world on fire every week what is the justification he gets a game ahead of developing youth who are more talented than he is anyway? Does Noah Long or Brockman deserve to go out of the side just to get Jamie Cripps a few more match payments before he retires?

Excluding the possibility that we play finals this year and/or next [which I do not] playing Cripps over these talented youngsters, in a team where there is pressure now for almost every spot- but particularly his- is mere nostalgia and credits. He's doing nothing particularly wrong, he's just not the future and him going out of the side doesn't particularly cost us anything tangible, but does provide a space for our future players to gain much needed experience. Unpopular calls have to be made at some point in a rebuild.

Arguably bringing Crouch back in has made them worse, their midfield is too slow. The crows midfield isnt exactly a good example to follow.
Even if Sheed is back at his best what does he bring? Hes not a fast player
A couple of games to see if he can find a spot in the team with the game style, if doesnt work then make him depth only imo

Crouch’s time in the SANFL has made him a better player, he has been good since coming back. The issue is the combination of he and Laird. Two of them is too many.
Unfortunately their coach is a fool who needs to be moved on ASAP.

I am in agreement that Sheed could have a couple games to acclimatise and see if he can fit in with the new direction before throwing him on the scrapheap permanently 😆. Was on a hiding to nothing coming in to the game as it was last night, all of a quarter isn’t exactly a lot of time to get up to speed to AFL level again, after a significant amount of time out.

No unforced changes this week 👍

I dont think Barrass goes.. One motion an arm free and a clear flop from Walters plus no injury. I think the main reason they pulled the Cameron good bloke farce was because they realised the initial suspension was a major **** up- for all the reasons mentioned above except there was a secondary action.
They made a rod for their back last week and I think they will try to avoid a similar situation this week.
But.. AFL MRO so who knows ?

Good timing. Barrass gone for one match lol

Good timing haha. I think we will successfully argue the medium impact down. Had 0 signs of any discomfort afterwards.

Surely we challenge.
I don't think we will. Barrass did the wrong thing. It was definitely a sling tackle. AFL are trying to stamp that out especially with concussions lately. Just take the one match and we move on. Not worth the risk of appealing this one. They might give him more on appeal.

Normally I'd say challenge but this was light and day a sling tackle. One week is better than what I thought he could have got done by.

Doesn't feel like a week. Walters gets up immediately and kicks the goal, plays out the game, JL was asked in the presser afterwards how Walters is, he looked confused and said he's fine, nothing wrong..slap on the wrist fine I hope.

You dont understand what a sling tackle is if you think this is one.
BTW what is the risk of an appeal? On what grounds do they potentially increase the penalty? High impact? Intentional? Because that is the only way they can do it, neither of which are close

I don't think you do. Barrass tackled and didn't protect the head while he swung the tackle. Walters head lands on the ground by the sling motion of the tackle. It is what it is. Deal with it and move on. We can challenge but can guarantee it will be a waste of time.

When it comes to light medium and heavy impact for a head knock, medium should be where the player goes off dizzy and has a concussion test but comes back on. Heavy they cant play out the game and light impact like Barrass's is where there is no impact or injury.
I would contest it. Should def be light contact. And he had an arm free of the tackle but decided to hold the ball.

Pfft, Barrass made sure the ball was between Walters head and the ground, and I'm pretty sure he filled out the weight calculation form in triplicate just before the tackle as well

Thee's no risk in appealing.
You only lose the money.
You don't get more on appeal.

Walters wasn't concussed and apart from playing it up for a free, played on.

Try and get it lowered to low impact and then use the "good guy" defence.
I'm sure his record is better than Camerons.

What's the risk in appealing it?

Charlie Cameron got off.

You pay the $10 000 and take a chance.

You are wrong and to prove it you have used a still to demonstrate an action.
He has tackled from behind and rolled him to the side so as not to land in his back. No secondary action or sling. Walters had every oportunity to protect himself but chose to hang onto the ball AND try to draw a free by making sure his head hits the ground.

Might aswell appeal as it will only cost money. But I'm not wrong in that still is exactly the reason he got done. The moment opponents head hits the ground in a sling tackle you get done. We wouldn't be here right now if Barrass didn't do it.

We can appeal though and may aswell as poster above said it doesn't give him anymore weeks and only a fine. May aswell play the good record card. But you are wrong if you think it was not a stupid tackle. That type of tackle will get a player to the tribunal every week. Barrass needs to work on he's tackling technique so he won't end up getting reported for it again.
