I can remember a time when smashing St Kilda was as certain as the sun rising in the east & setting in the west. Astonishing that their overall wins against us is now 50, yet barely a decade ago it was in the low 30s.

Those were the glory days and it's about time they returned msr.

I can see it happening. The Saints have not recruited as well as they would have liked in recent years & a lot of their talent still lies at the older end of the list. Within 2 years most of those talented players will be gone & a lot of pressure will fall onto their younger players. They may have a 3-4 year period where they are almost Melbourne-esque.

We should seriously just go out there and go the knuckle with these pricks.

Eyes on the ball, C4.

Let's hope it starts with a win on Monday night and order will be restored.

Yep, their best half dozen or so players are also their oldest. With guys like Hayes, Riewoldt, Milne, Dal Santo, Fisher & Montagna (30 in November) all going to retire over the next few seasons, they are going to have to recruit very very well, or be a very active participant in the FA/Trade period.

If Henderson plays on Riewoldt, Jamison will take the resting ruck or White if they go with a rookie.
Tuohy would be a good chance to play on Siposs.

All I ask is that Walker plays on Milne...

I think we'll get it.
Milne's not quite as slippery as he used to be and Walker could really attack off him.

So we'll have a 25 man squad again tomorrow.

Still hard to pick the ins and outs.
Did anyone get to training today to see whether Yarran, Gibbs and Kreuzer were fluent around the track?

Casboult and Bell should definitely be in the 25 with Rowe a slight chance.

(Rowes ruck-work is looking pretty good right now. It seems to have real purpose albeit at the lower level)

The more I think about this game the more important I see it being for Carlton. It's just huge with an opponent with a 10 day break who will really be setting themselves to win this.

If we can win this it starts to prove to me that we are 'solid' team. Not one that can turn it on occasionally when the 3 Amigos perform their party tricks but a team that can butter up week in, week out and just rack up the wins.

Whilst some complained about the 61pt win over Melbourne, I liked the fact that Melbourne really did come at us in the 2nd quarter, and whilst we might have been a bit rattled for 15 mins, we were able to steady and really have a good win.

It was the same in the last quarter against Adelaide -we steadied and pulled away in the end.

It's a sign of a mature side. Here's hoping 'that side' turns up on Monday night. !

In: Casboult Carrazzo
Out: Waite Cachia (bloody unlucky) or Yarran if still injured
No Gibbs yet?

Their small forwards are a concernt but I will back Walker, Touhy and Scotland to get the job done. Jamison and Henderson to take turns on Riewoldt preventing him from being able to run an opponent into the ground. Maybe punish them for an over short forward line by giving Henderson spells up forward or playing Hendo on a wing and having him drop back lose into the hole and stuffing any long kick that they do in.

Should win this game by 5 or 6 goals points.
