Don't worry I did
Him and Griffiths efforts are nothing short of pathetic.
You're wrong. I'm sorry.

Griffiths may not get much of the ball, but he tries to get to contests and leads. You can even see this at the kick out where he and Hammer were trying to provide an option.

Vickery has no clue. He demands the ball with one arm in the air standing still. Massive difference between the way the two of them play.

His best play of the day was in the first quarter, I think, where he LEAD at the ball for the first time in weeks, took the mark and then missed the set shot.

I would take, on current form, Griff over Vickery so damn easily.

Game plan was fine until the workrate dropped off... or the fitness levels wouldn't let them go any more, or the mental capacity to work disappeared...
No it wasn't. We didn't have players in the right positions to get out of our defensive 50

Sure, but Brandon at least sometimes runs and puts in effort .

Ty puts in SO LITTLE EFFORT. Please, watch his running pattern at the match. It's absolute disgrace.

Pointless comparing them and I know you didn't bring it up. TV is there to be a target. If he kicks 3 a week, then that's 66 for the year. That's his job done. The issue is that he should have kicked 5 tonight, despite his workrate... which means he should do better more often.... how to get it out of him is the key. If we traded him to Sydney, he'd kick 80+

Watched the 1st half, missed most of the 2nd half with a minor crisis phonecall, so my thoughts are mostly from the 1st half.

1. Found myself enjoying watching the game for probably the first time this year.
2. Liked Vlastuin, Martin, Miles in midfield. Midfield looked quite good early. Started thinking that maybe Cotch could return as a where-needed-most utility, but I presume its still midfield that needs the most.
3. Griffiths. Still seems to disappear for huge amounts of the game. Does he need more specific coaching on where to move to? I noticed him crash a few packs, which is good enough for me as a base to start working from, regardless of what stats he gets. Would like him to continue with a good block of games.
4. Ty. Someone mentioned he could be our best small forward & I think I agree. Doesn't really impose himself or take contested pack marks or lead, but somehow manages to get a couple of goals each game. I think I just need to accept that & hope he works on one aspect at a time to improve, such as chasing and defensive pressure.
5. Piss-easy over the back goals. Why do other teams have them but not us? Can we instruct Rioli or someone to run like buggery to create these opportunities for us? And we can have someone with a bit of speed keeping an eye on the last line of defence for us to help prevent our opponents constantly doing it.
6. Houli. I support Houli as our best (only) run from defence, but..... some shocking cases of the fumbles- he epitomises present lack of confidence. Needs to regain form- may mean a stint in the VFL.
7. BEllis. I'm getting to the stage where I'd almost prefer Gordon back. Supposed to be able to gut-run all day. Why can't we find a position/role where this can be exploited as a huge advantage? Felt the same way about Gordon- surely we could utilise him somewhere? Ellis was almost top of his draftyear after his 1st & 2nd years. What has happened?
8. The kids. I've been saying that our team form has not been good enough to "carry" more than 1 or 2 of the kids. I'm now backflipping on this & saying keep playing the kids as much as possible. Keep them in the AFL unless its viewed that a block in the VFL will be beneficial for their form - Menadue is getting close to this point.

Extra cops guarding the Richmond player race.
Really??? Personally, I don't get people who scream bullshit at players, and screaming at players leaving the ground is just unhinged. But **** me...this nanny state bs is over the top.

I went to a Barcelona game in Spain and the fans seen messi in his car driving arriving into the underground car park just outside the ground lol, like 200 fans mobbed his car !! Lunatics .

I believe you, I just don't want to. If he's really this poor with his work rate, surely the coaches see it? If they have, why haven't they acted on it?
Clearly our fringe players are in the same boat, if mcbean cant get a game now he never will

With young legs comes fatigue and we are clearly having issues running out games. Our inability to hit the scoreboard when we are dominating is also a problem. Simply our defence is struggling and our offence cant get near 100pts so things not looking good. I just hope Hardwick persists with the kids as the more games he can get into them the better. Players like Chaplin, Batch, Morris, Houli need to make way as they are clearly not the future.

True but how I read it is that our coaches, all of them miss read the game in the off season and constructed a game plan that is polar opposite to what we need this year, hence our zone defense is so easily countered, our players are headless as they are thinking they are going to the right spots as instructed but those spots **** the team over.

It is a mess and its on the coaches. The shining light for me, some players who are taking the piss are now being exposed and i hope they get the ass at season end.

Put it this way. A team will never win the premiership with Grigg, Houli, B. Ellis, Chaplin, Morris (even though he tries his heart out), Hampson, Batchelor in their 22. Why don't we start the cleanout now? What are we actually gaining from playing them? A few cheap wins and a worse draft pick? Please

IMO we have 5 kids playing. Now the seasons shot, that should lift to around 7-8 IMO. It is all about next year. So i would think a cleanout will be happening.

Some of our zoning was awful. Hawks players ran in to holes too easily.

I understand what you're saying. The point is, the goals Ty kicked, any person on the ground could have kicked. He was gifted three of his goals.

I understand what both of their jobs are. Vickery played as a Full Forward on a first gamer. I mean, Jesus Christ.. he was pathetic tonight. I cannot get over just how lazy he is. He infuriates me because he should not be this bad. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. He doesn't lead at the ball, he doesn't tackle and provide forward pressure, he doesn't often crash packs. I know how talented Ty is, but he's not doing anywhere near enough work. Not even close.

And, this is the point. He's got 3 goals and he's safe. Everyone thinsk he's had a decent game because he's got three. Sydney might be able to carry someone like Ty to 80 goals a year or whatever. We certainly cannot. Ty should be as damaging as Jack.

I mean, if Lennon isnt get a game because he's lazy or doesnt do enough hard work. And, if McBean is in the same boat. Well, **** me dead. They cannot be as lazy as Ty.

Men.

I know what you mean in terms of nescience, but the fact is they are picked to pay AFL, they are men, and they seem underdeveloped.

I am not going to argue semantics. They are still in there teen years. Also they are kids in regards to AFL experience. As to development, of course there under developed, they are 19.

Played with a more positive mindset, lined up with just the 6 backs from the opening bounce. Good effort for 3qtrs, but disappointing to offer no resistance in the last. Our ability to defend on transition is horrendous, don't work hard/smart enough.

One tick regarding team selection. Thought C.Ellis needed a spell after the Dess game, but his last two have been decent. Need to keep persisting with the youngsters, although Rioli will need a rest at some stage in his first year.
