We also dont kick low to good options, we just bomb it down the wing and hope someone marks it! These are still youngsters learning the game so it's not entirely their fault but i would like to see smarter desicions made on the field because this rubbish cant go on any longer
It sure isn't. I put more blame on our experienced players who keep making the same mistakes.

Reckon the absence of Lynch has really exposed the players with a lack of footy IQ. They're so used to him being a get out of jail card they could just bomb it long to with his contested marking and reading of the play making them look good. Only marking players in the 50 are interceptors but theyre still doing it.

This is a perfect summation.

Jack and Lynch could take marks with the long bomb in with our "get it forward at all costs" game plan. If they didn't they would at least half it 8/10 times. The new forwards are leading players.

A few weeks ago against West Coast when we hit Lefau on a lead he met the ball at speed and took it looking like a player from the 80s and 90s. Balta is the exact same. They need to be hit on their leads and not just having the ball dumped on their head. The last few games the amount if experienced players (mainly Short) dumping the ball to where the forward started their lead was just infuriating

Agree 100% and it’s not just the ones Lynch and Jack might mark they also simply contested a lot more so even if they didn’t actually mark it it made it a lot harder for the opponents to do so causing a lot more groundball that either gave our smalls an opportunity or a chance for repeat stoppage or a kick under pressure out of our forward line giving us a better chance for repeat entries

Instead of now interceptors having little to no actual contested marking situations picking the ball off at will

We really should at least ask the AFL if our forwards and the oppostions defenders can swap jumpers for the game each week. Only way we would actually be able to hit our forwards on the chest.

People believe lynch is apart of the problem weird to say that. I get his age but we need him until someone else is ready.

To an extent that is the way football is played best, as long as you have the cattle. The Dogs did it on the weekend.

We have been spoilt at Richmond for good forwards to bomb it to, (but for the doldrum years). Way back to Hart and Balme, Roach, Richo, Jack and now Lynch. (Our tap of talent from Tassie may now be gone).

Great forwards are so important and without them you have to find other ways to win. Collingwood did it, but they were lucky. The Dogs scraped over the line kicking it to ground. All this chip around controlling the ball and making good entries can work well in the season but come finals rarely does.

Average sides usually have average forwards. Given we have no Lynch or Jack or any forward marking talent, we need to put our most aggressive ball players and aggressive marking players up forward with our list. That might mean Bolton and Cumberland (jury is still out). Lefau has shown something as a leading forward but we need to find a player who can mark the ball or at least fly and be aggressive. it didn't work with Miller. Balta is still finding his feet but 50-50 at this stage. It may have to be Gibcus who is a natural marker, or someone from left field like Young or even Broad until Lynch is back.

I think that's a pretty accurate assessment. So we either need players up the field who are smart enough not to simply bomb it long to the opposition, or key forwards who can either take a pack mark or split packs.

Easy.
