Steele was sub a few weeks ago.

I reckon put Elliot the sub. He's getting old now and a banged up body, will do him good to have an easier week.
17 clubs in the league would be grateful to see Elliott start as sub.
He’s so dangerous and such a hard match up.

At least Tippa not playing this year.
Always seems like he and Stringer lift for this fixture against us.

Keeping Jake in check will go a long way to winning this.

They have a good core of players at the moment and clearly on the rise.
Will be a good test for both mobs and usually delivers.

Weather could be great for our smaller guys, hoping they go tall and we run rings around them.

Go Pies.

I don't think I've ever seen a player be so intent on giving others glory, he even chose reef and Schultz specifically, to help get them in the game
The one area of Bobby’s game that has dropped off since the premership is his chasing and defensive pressure
Offensively he is elite

Averaging 0.1 more tackles I50 this season than last, but 1 less tackle overall and 1 less pressure act. Pretty marginal

Away for a couple of days - drove along Brunton Ave yesterday morning - made appropriate reverential signs passing the MCG. In the afternoon drove out of town along Tulla freeway - made appropriate disrespectful signs (with sound effects) passing anything with Essendon signage.

He’s been freed up by the inclusion of Shoota to complement Beau.

He's a stat padder with little influence on the actual result.

I wasn't trying to suggest he'd win the game

Just saying that anytime a "name" player is down on form, they're guaranteed to find it against us

The media have such short memories. The Dons got smoked by the Power 2 weeks ago and it was doomsday. They beat a Dogs side who didn't show up and robbed the Crows. Now all of a sudden they're on the verge of the lid being off. Please campaigners.

Think Essendon are on the rise, and this game will be tight.
We will need to bring the same levels of pressure as last week against PA (except for first quarter!!) to win.
Wright is available for selection for them.
Their defence is not like PA's (they are better at ground level) so we can't adopt exactly the same ideas as last week (a super small forward line).
In the contemporary game, pressure is increasingly the decisive factor.
Pressure depends on two things: physical energy, and structure. The necessity to be at the contest itself, but also to have manned up the potential opposition escape routes at the contest.
In the first quarter against PA, we were way out of balance. That was rectified after the first quarter.
Bring the same synergy against Essendon, and we will win.
Not sure what our forward line will look like.
Essendon will be fully prepared for WHE playing forward.
Do we need to rest a veteran, in line with our evident plan to keep them fit and healthy for the entire season?
I think Pendles will stay in, his "rest" was the last quarter when he was subbed off (he is a genius of AFL football)
Mitchell will need to stay in as well. He is a powerhouse in the midfield atm, and I am very concerned that we haven't yet found the means to alleviate his load. Atm, this is our Achilles tendon, and it is the reason why we have to get games into Sullivan, Fin etc.
Was rapt with Cox's performance against PA. He was brilliant at ground level, and even recaptured elements of his 2018 Prelim performance against richmond.

Any glimpse of pressure and they'll crumble. Don't be sucked in by their past 2 weeks.

Probably get laughed down but thinking if at times we need a shut down player/tagger, could someone like Shoota be that player?

Has the tank, defensive and can slide forward to score.

Not sure. May have the tank, but depends on the player, you wouldn't want it to be someone that has pace and can run off him.
I dont think he is that fast.

We had Lippa on parish and kept him quite in the 2nd half of a game a couple years ago

True. I was comparing to the likes of Dutchy and Piggy. Think Dutchy had a bit of leg speed but think Levi wasn’t too quick. Could be wrong.

I don't know about playing as a strict tagger, as that doesn't seem to be our style, but I think Sarge would be a really interesting option as a defensive midfielder to counter the attacking nature of De Goey and Daicos. Sarge is a better ball hunter than someone like McCreery, who I've also thought about in this kind of role
