Reckon that Parish and Langford are locks to come back this week. Weeks rest would have done them good.

It's hilarious how open other teams forward lines are. We really need to move the ball quickly.

Agree. Also think any inclusions will get another week to show their stuff before they're at risk of being dropped (so Redman, Grima and Smack stay in). We usually play 4-5 top-ups each week, but yesterday we had 6, so could possibly drop one of them as well (although Simpkin is already out), so that would be one of Polkinghorne, Crowley, Kelly or Dea.

I'm also curious to see if Daniher will get rested this week. I don't see him playing VFL but perhaps a rest to watch and get his head together? And if we're resting youths, Fantasia might come under that as well (although with his current form you'd be a fool to drop him).

Performers in the VFL that could come in; Jerrett, Hams (rookie), Grimley (only out for one week, but kicked 2 and could replace Daniher?)... possibly Edwards? (17 disposals, two goals. I watched most of the VFL game but I don't remember his goals so... yeah.) maybe even Eades? Throw him in the deep end and give him a taste before he goes back to the VFL and tears it up? I didn't see much of Ashby, but given he's sorta still coming back from injury (hence we haven't seen him in the AFL).......eh

IN: Parish, Langford, Jerrett/Ashby/Hams/Grimley/Edwards/Eades?
OUT: Simpkin, Crowley/Polkinghorne/Dea/Kelly/Daniher/Fantasia?

Obviously some of those are really unlikely... but more likely I think than other possibilities.

Anyone thinking Daniher will be dropped is kidding themselves. Lose all our structure if he dosen't play. I would rather play him than Grimley or any other key position player currently playing VFL

He has his gameday thread up days in advance. He let's one of us know when he posts it and we delete it until gameday when we undelete it and direct all traffic through it. There's no reason we can't do the same thing for previews but you would still need to have it prepared in advance.
Oh, that's easily doable.

IN Parish, Langford

OUT Polkinghorne, Simpkin

We cant keep making wholesale changes each week.

In the end I think 3 changes will do.

IN: Parish, Langford, J Merrett
OUT: Polkinghorne, Simpkin, Redman (clearly not ready)

We need two Fantasia's. Against Sydney it did not matter quiet as much because the ground is so short that the run of Dempsey and Tippa from half back was enough to get the ball to half forward. There will be a much bigger need at Etihad for greater midfield run to get numbers back but also to provide options for the quick movement of the ball forward.

We have two options, both of which are required, to provide the necessary midfield run. Fantasia and Jack Merrett will need to play on the wings and as high half forwards. Merrett for Simpkin is a logical replacement and, as everyone will surely know by now, Jackson was BOG yesterday by a mile.

Out: Simpkin
In: Jack Merrett

Players seem to be getting two weeks to show enough to justify their continued selection and Polkinghorne has done nothing in his two games. He's playing as a forward but he's not providing any ground level bite and certainly not presenting himself as a dangerous goal scoring options. I really want to see Long sooner rather than later, though it won't hurt him to continue to build momentum in the twos. Eades is probably a bit further away. Langford can play forward in the current set up which has more inside strength (but he has that added bow of being able to play in the middle).

Out: Polkinghorne
In: Langford

I wonder if Redman only gets a week because I can't see Parish being required to play VFL after being rested, unless he gets another week off.

Out: Redman
In: Parish

I think Redman deserves another week to prove his worth. Bit harsh to drop him after facing a strong swans side at the SCG in his first game
The problem is that he's clearly not ready. Look at Aliir Aliir, he was brought in by Sydney last week, they saw he was clearly too raw for AFL level and corrected the mistake the following week.

Want those three ins and those two outs. Unsure of third out. Possibly give Cooney or Dea a week off.

I'd give Redman another shot.

I agree, but I thought he looked to get better as the game went on. Rare for first-game players to come in and look ready from the first bounce especially against Sydney who are hard at it.

Deserves another week in my opinion, started to get into the game and did lay 6 tackles so although not a huge number of possessions he was still involved in the game.

Kieran Lovell is a good example for Hawthorn, struggled last week on debut but started to find his feet in the second half on Friday night, you cant just spit them out after one match.

McKernan.
To be fair to you, his game was atrocious that week and he doesn't have the benefit of being an 18 year old debutant unfamiliar with the speed of the game or the size of the crowd or whatever... (which is to say being dropped for form would have been a fair call), however the changes after round one were attributed to getting the selections wrong, and Simpkin and Bird are in the same boat. To be technical, all three of them played all three NAB challenge games directly before round one.

I think making Jerrett really earn his spot in the vfl and giving Mason another week could be beneficial to both players.

Jackson really needs to learn that one good game doesn't give you credits for following it up with 4 shit ones. He's in his 5th year it's time for consistency.

Redman I don't like giving players 1 week. Giving him a couple of games against 2 sides that will be top 4 could really set him up and teach him where he needs to get too.

The other side of the coin is they get better the more they're exposed.

Walla is an example of this when you compare his first NAB game to where he is now. What Walla has on Redman is a mature body.
