Not sure who plays on Gunston. Zerk goes to Daniher and Baldwin to Hipwood. Kelly needs to do his usual blanket job on Cameron and McGrath on McCarthy. Might have to throw Montie on Gunston

Other end, Starcevich on Stringer, Andrews on Weideman and Payne on the ruck. Lester maybe on Langford? Not sure about small match ups, but hoping McKenna on Walla
I reckon Payne will go to Weids. Weids can be very good at times. Andrews will take the resting ruck.

Short turnaround for back to back interstate games, 4 games in 3.5 weeks, a severe lack of KPDs or even KPD substitutes vs Daniher, Hipwood and Gunston, playing at the Gabba where the Lions are a 4 goals better side.

We won't have a ruck advantage, their midfield is purring, their forward line is humming, their defence is really starting to gel.

Ick.

We've put up a fair fight for a couple of months now, I fear this one will be a drubbing. I've said that for most of the last couple of months so hopefully I'm wrong and it's a loss we can take plenty out of.

Essendon hasn't been thrashed so far this year.
Maybe it could be against Brisbane? But I think we have started to turn a corner with this group and have at least reduced the blowouts happening.

Going into that Port game most would have thought that was going to be a sure loss, even a big loss. But we were right in it until the end.

I say keep Phillips in, the alternatives just aren't ready yet.
Baldwin or Monty for Ridley. Keep Langford in the fwd line no matter what.
Menzie and Davey aren't impacting the game enough, though the exp will help further down the line. Snelling should get a go.

So which defender are you dropping? Hind

If Kelly is on Charles then Redman on Gunston

No. With no Ridley we need him being as offensive as possible. I'm playing Montgomerie instead.

G'day bombers fans.

I watched most of yesterday and while Port's inefficiency helped your mob hung in there pretty bloody well. Especially with the KPD stocks so depleted. Dons kept trying and the counter attack was pretty deadly. And never gave up. Was impressive to see them do so in such a hostile environment.

I was there last year at the gabba. We had a LOT of players out but still got spanked in the midfield where most of our first choice was available so it was a deserved victory i thought. Wright was sublime and we did have Payne and Adams so it was not on some dud. Every time we threatened he took another big contested mark. Langford killed us. Neale was clamped down on and bafflingly we refused to sub in Mathieson to give us a spark.

Tough ask for you this year given Ridley now added to the injury list. We seem to be a bit of a mentally tougher team. But certainly not taking this for granted given a very resolved Essendon under Brad Scott.

Who will likely come in for Ridley? I've seen a few say Langford should not go back. I mean as a lions supporter i hope he plays backline put it that way haha.

I think we'll be forced to play a second key defender finally. Probably Baldwin.

Mcgrath on Charles
Thats what i want to see

It wont happen, but would love to see his progress in defending. His offense is limited, he needs to start taking the best small forwards and this is a great opportunity

Id send Jelly to Gunston though in this case

If Mcgrath shows he can start nullifying some of the best small forwards then we can consider developing Tsatas or our top 10/30 pick as a half back flanker

Yeh so your bringing 2 defenders in, which 2 go out?

Ridley and ?
Out: Ridley, Hind, Phillips, Menzie
In: Baldwin, Montgomerie, Bryan, Durham

That is what eth posted.

Out: Ridley, Menzies, Phillips,
In: Baldwin, Byran, Durham

Id also look to bring in Snelling depending on if any others sore. We need to bring in another defender and Byran gives us some flexibility to go back also if needed.
