Ryan Griffen Requests Trade

Did anyone else find the last bit if Gordon's statement a tad contradictory?

"We are extremely disappointed at his approach and have no intention of indulging it - Ryan is a contracted Western Bulldogs player and he will be required to fulfil his contract in 2015.

During this difficult time I promise you that we will continue to do our best, in the best interest of our Club."

This is our most pathetic moment as a club in the last 25 years, we had a chance to stand firm, get rid of the senior culture black hole that has been a factor at our club for 20 years, instead we cave and sack the coach and lose our Captain.

Ryan Griffen is dead to me, will go down as the greatest Judas of all time at the Bulldogs.

Is griffen our first captain to walk?

Can any of you older guys remember if Laurier Sandilands was our captain when he left for Collingwood?
Ha ha!

Sandilands, of course, but what about Dempsey, Thorpe & Edmonds.

I don't think Georgie Bissett was ever actually captain, I think Stewie Magee was. Hawk wasn't captain any more when he left.

i agree - WEAK AS PISS ! yet again, not making a stand .... weak weak weak

Extremely disappointing if Macca is gone. Seems to go against everything which has been put forward by the club in recent times and I am shocked that Gordon has taken this path.

Either way, Griffen cannot possibly be playing for the club next year. If he stays and Macca is gone, we need a new president and a new CEO immediately.

I'm not a supporter that typically takes to berating players on my own team. But if Griffen is still at our club next year, at a minimum I won't cheer or clap for anything he does on the field, and on some occasions I will be forced to stick the boot in.

I couldn't stomach seeing him in a Dogs jumper next season, and if we allowed him to stay if he changed his mind, I'm not sure I'd be at games in the first place.

He needs to play some seriously good footy to win the fans back.

He's gone mate.

I hope all the other senior group that were with him are too. We need to **** them off and get a clean slate.

Rudd (senior whiteant players) and Gillard (failed stabiliser Macca) before healing can occur.

Even if macca resigns, Griffin and the other senior blokes who have caused this debacle must go now

If McCartney's position was deemed untenable, I don't see how Ryan Griffen ever walks through the doors at Whitten Oval again.

Holy shit. The coach gone now? WTF? Why not give him a bloody chance with the young guys for another year. WIthout the distraction this year of any angst with the older blokes, give the younger blokes a chance to play for him. Would cause less drama than him stepping down now.

FFS bullies keep the coach, get the picks, play the kids and see how you go next year.

Oh boy this is turning into a ****ing circus.

If Griffin is the one to get the coach sacked with him trying for a trade to GWS and it falls through, he better win the brownlow next year with effort.

Was prepared to give Griffin the benefit of the doubt, but now, sheesh, seems he has taken an axe to the culture at the bulldogs.

I hope it turns out well for your club.

Gordon needs to realise that Ryan Griffen IS NO LONGER a much loved player.

Such a horrible situation for the club brought upon by a combination of our 'leader's- the captain, the coach, the CEO and the president. We need a big overhaul and it should have started first with Griffen, not McCartney.

It's all spin from Gordon. He needs to stand firm to lure the best possible offer from GWS. If he came out and said Griffen is dead to us then GWS would offer a peanut exchange of picks. Like this they have to come to the party.

Just like the Pies. Stand firm, dont buckle and in the end they will get just that bit more out of the deal.
