He is a top 10 player on anyones list.

There are about 40 blokes on our list and he would sit well and truly in our best 10.

It's that simple, you want as many A graders on your list as possible or would you rather Zac Dawson, Tim Clarke and Tim Boyle on our list as opposed to a Jet.

Nothing broken?...we have plenty of players on our list that will be delisted or will never make it - ROK isn't one of them.

One of a handfull of players in the entire country with a complete game...He is a dead set GUN and absolute nightmare match up.

Straight to Hawthorn do not go pass anywhere.....Straight in, thank you for coming.

I'd go as far as to say we would be an absolute Monty for the flag next year, if we arn't already, if we can add yet another genuine A grader like ROK.

Rest assured we will throw everything at Sydney to get him across, of that there is NO doubt whatsoever and by everything i mean any player on our list that is ranked 15th to 40th plus draft picks...eg any one of Tim Boyle, Ben McGlynn, Simon Taylor, Zac Dawson, Josh Kennedy, to name afew plus second rounder would secure it.

None of those players will ever be AA...ROK has been and is a chance every year.

I said before that I couldn't see it happening and I still think its incredibly unlikely. Carlton / Collingwood etc would be more willing to throw big amounts at Sydney. The other problem would be the Salary Cap - 2 years time he'd be on 2-300k which makes keeping a 25yo just a wee bit harder when we are trying to consolidate.

The team meeting with Ryan O Keefe is...
Hawthorn. To put it quite simply there are two scenarios here

1) He joins Hawthorn
2) He stays with the Swans

From what I gather Clarkson will meet with O Keefe on Friday to talk about joining. Hawthorn likely to throw Tim Boyle around as the bait however I believe Sydney also want a sweetner added on to the deal. You heard it here first people

I'd absolutely love to see ROK play for the Hawks.

O'keefe looks alot like Sam Mitchell (atleast to me) so it would be really confusing to have them in the same team (plus Sam Mitchell has O'Keefe's number).

Just looked at our list and Boyle, Taylor, Dawson and Clarke obviously should be put on the table come trade time. No trade for them means the chop unfortunately

I don't think he fills a pressing need for us, but good players are always welcome. I also don't generally like the "bundle up a couple of 2nd tier players to equal a gun" approach to trading, but Boyler plus Tails might actually make sense. If Hall stays at Sydney it would be the perfect club for Boyle with him not expected to play against the number 1 defender and O'Loughlin not looking great this year (has he retired?), and Tails would make a great second ruck behind Jolly. Might need a pick swapped to even things out, but I can't honestly decide who would have to give up the pick.

I'd prefer to keep him as backup, but frankly I'd be happy enough to go in to a game or two with Roughead as second ruck if Max didn't come up and Walsh hadn't improved sufficiently to get a run. There will be plenty of clubs out there with much worse second rucks getting around.

What a great player. Taylor plus our first round pick would be reasonable.

HOWEVER...we must stick to the plan. We need tall defenders. O'Keefe's age also worries me. He would be a 3 year prospect at best. Which is almostt conceding that our prermiership window has a three year life span. I think we are better than that.

Let's not forget that a fair few of our (better than O'Keefe) players have signed on for less than market worth. If we start bandying about the room in the cap afforded us by their loyalty, only use that money to give away a spot filled currently by a performing Hawk to a fancied Swan on the wrong end of his career; how can we expect that kind of loyalty next time negotiations are open?

We probably do have a spot for someone of O'Keefe's market worth in our run-on side, but if we do it's in the backline.

Ryan has been an excellent servant (meat) for the Swans. I have been an admirer of his talent throughout his career. Has excellent hands - strong overhead mark.

I mooted us getting him three years ago when he was looking at returning to Victoria and it would have been a good time. But not now. We don't recruit 28-y-olds and we are well served by younger players on our long deep list.

Sad! As I would have loved him having been a Hawk.

He wouldn't fit in at Hawthorn. I think that he would be too old. However, we said something similar last year when Stuart Dew put himself in the draft. We got him. So it wouldn't surprise me if Clarko does the same this year.

From the reports in the papers if he is going to go anywhere it's to a team with possible success (Just the same reason Spider left us)

Ryan is a GUN. He can play HFF, but run midfield and back all day. Super endurance player.

Hodge has a new role at the Hawks. Whilst he can play in the guts and fwd, he has become The GENERAL in our backline. O'Keefe is exactly the type we need at our club. He has at least 3 yrs of good footy in him. I reckon we put extra emphasis on defenders in the other picks and even in the Rookie list - especially ones that are a little bit more physically developed, with pace. Let's face it Jon Hay's only real gift was pace and height and he followed his fwd like glue during his best.

Unless a ready made key defender wants to come to the Hawks, then we must trade aggressively for O'Keefe. He runs all day and is great one on one. Players like him can be the difference in winning another flag next year....Our pick 16 is pure speculation. Many have not turned out. Many 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders, along with rookies have become gems in the AFL.

Sydney and the Hawks played hardball fiercely over Spider. If we discuss things with them it has to be realistic. If O'Keefe meets with Clarko, Clarko is such a great character it will make it interesting. If he just wants big bucks the meeting will not last long...

Trade With Swans

In my opinion we would be crazy to sign O'Keefe for anywhere near the ridiculous numbers he is asking for. He would be a nice addition to our 18 but not at that price.

I think our best bet is to try and get sydneys 1st round pick as they have a history of dealing it to fill needs. A deal that involves our second pick and Simon Taylor could be enough.

I understand the logic of trying to top up but lets not forget its a strong draft.
