Former Prime Minister and newly appointed Education Minister DaveW was deliberately coy about the prospect of a challenge today.

When pressed about his ambitions for a return to the Prime Ministership, he replied, "Right now I'm looking forward to tackling the exciting challenges of the education porfolio."

Asked further if a challenge was imminent, DaveW responded, "well there's not going to be one this afternoon if that's what you're asking."

Supporters of DaveW insist that a challenge is likely to happen within the next week. They point to his dismantling of the immigration department as an attempt to bring CharlieG's government into disrepute.

There is also growing cynism in Loony Left ranks about this week's announcement of ban on rugby league. Many believe the initiative came at the behest of the Prime Minister with a goal to increase the supporter base of his beloved AFL team, the Sydney Swans.

Former Attorney-General and current Foreign Minister Just Maybe has launched a stunning broadside at Opposition Leader rick James in the lead-up to this month's by-election in the Perth city electorate.

The Perth city electorate was recently vacated by shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister UNIT, who, according to the Opposition Leader, had stepped down after 'concerns over the level of impartiality toward his portfolio'. The comments appear to be based on reports UNIT had been captured on film, drunk, abusing 'bloody Nyoongar abos'.

Minister Maybe criticised the Opposition Leader as a 'spineless, stand-for-nothing individual' whose Parliamentary responses belied a lack of policy nous and a 'juvenile predilection for personal abuse'.

The broadside has come at a bad time for the Opposition Leader who, struggling with personal popularity ratings, has resorted to naming those in Parliament he considers he can 'have a decent discussion with'. The Loony Left have latched onto this behaviour as proof of James' loosening grip on control of his party and, according to an unnamed source, 'his own mental faculties'.

The Perth by-election represents a do-or-die scenario for the Opposition, who are facing dismal poll results and the prospect of a massive majority against them in both Houses of Parliament.

The Government is confident that this move to free the shackles that Rugby League has held over the states of New South Wales and Queensland will have a positive effect that will well outweigh the hassles caused. Additionally, the Government feels that Rugby League players will all struggle to understand words as long as "underground", thus meaning they will be unable to hide any attempts to resurrect the sport. Additionally, it is thought that Sydney commuters would not actually notice the difference in performance of their public transport should spontaneous Rugby League games break out in stations.

The reality is that Rugby League has been holding back sport in this country, by taking resources that could be better used for more popular sports such as croquet or tunnel ball. The Government is dedicated to the prevention of waste in this country, and the eradication of Rugby League is just a part of the platform.

Yeah, tunnel ball. Used to be called field ball. Another game you drove underground on the basis that it is only popular in The Northern Territory and King Island. We were proudly World Champions until you gave this huge free kick to Vietnam!

1-No one should doubt my loyalty to PM CharlieG and i would oppose any attempt to replace him.
But having said that,
2-I dont support the ban on Thugby.

The deputy Opposition leader and Honourable member for the National Conservatives Party, Carly P angrily lashed out at Foreign Affairs minister Just Maybe comments about Unit MP, one of the partys rising hopefulls.
'Its a fixup job, Minister Maybe should be ashamed of himself! Lies all Lies!' The deputy opposition leader claimed yesterday.

On the Byelection, The Deputy Leader of the opposition said that,'We are preparing for this Byelection and can not wait, its a perfect opportunity to see where we are and I know we can win.'

When asked about her own leadership aspirations in the face of a slump in support for Opposition Leader Rick James, CarlyP would not comment saying that 'the leadership is up to the party and not her personally.' She would not be drawn into a public clash with Mr James.

Mr Speaker, how interesting that the good Minister should feel the urge to comment on our party when there is enough to worry about in his own party! Again I will say, in these times we live in, do the Australian people really want a Federal government that continues to play the man rather than the ball so to speak? They are the most disinterested Government in many many years. Your not interested in governing but purely playing politics!

Sexism at its finest from the Government and its members. Mr Speaker, I ask for those comments to be removed from Hansard. Funny that the government should call the National Conservative Party sexist, I wont hear of it after that comment.

Mr Speaker, I must protest at this gross misrepresentation of the facts! The game in question was in fact driven underground by the previous government, and this legislation is designed to accurately reflect the desires of the Australian people, who wish to see a resurrection of croquet and tunnel ball, along with other sports suppressed by the National Conservatives Party Government in their previous term in office, such as Lawn Bowls, Funny Car Racing and Kanga Cricket.

In my hand I have a letter on this issue from the Amabassador to Australia from the Nathan-State of Bucklonia, Mr E. McGuire. In it he says, "Collingwood. Collingwood. Magpies. Nathan is God, its all here in Black and White, Collingwood." After getting some of the nations best translators to translate this from Mcguirese, I cannot help but think that this is definite support internationally for the Government's intended ban on the vile sport of Rugby League.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, The Honourable Just Maybe, issued a swift response to Deputy Opposition Leader carlyp's comments, retorting simply 'It is heartening to see the Deputy Opposition Leader can show more ticker in one line than the Opposition Leader has shown his whole time in office. I wish her all the best in her imminent challenge to the Opposition Leader and hope she can bring some decency back into the Party and their conduct in Parliament'.

The Minister for Science ond Technology Bombers 2003, concurs in the press release of the foreign minister.

7.30 Report Transcript.

Kerry O'Brien - Minister will you deny there is a leadership challenge planned?
Attorney General - Kerry, you know better to be driven by press gallery scuttlebutt.

KO - So the PM has your full backing and support?
AG - He is the democratically elected head of the party.

KO - You won't be supporting any bid to overthrow him?
AG - We are fortunate in the party to have many strong leaders and a number of candidates who could do a superb job. It is a strength of this government. But, at this time, the PM is seen as the best of that group.

KO - Recently he seemed to give you are a dressing down when rumours of tension emerged in relationship to the proposed Bill of Rights.
AG - The PM was far too quick to respond to some out of context quotes from a journalist with an axe to grind and newspapers to sell. Had the PM chosen to spoken to me the matter could have been cleared up. We also may have avoided yet another cabinet reshuffle.

KO - So when we will expect a new bill of rights?
AG - In the fullness of time.

KO - When minister?
AG - Well it is a complex matter that needs to be undertaken cautiosuly. There needs to be senate inquiries, public comment, opportunities to study the legislation, community consultation. We will be announcing a timetable which will see the process begun immediately and given even priority. With this as our number 1 objective we could see a Bill before Parliament as early as 2011.

KO - The PM won't be happy with that timing.
AG - The PM is 100% behind the Bill of Rights. It really has been his baby since the beginning. I don't think it is an exageration to say that he has staked his reputation on the passage of the Bill. I have discussed this with him and he is convinced that our approach is correct.

KO - It is clear to most that you and the PM have had a falling out ..
AG - Kerry, I am not here to engage in schoolyard gossip. I have shown more loyalty to the PM than to any previous leader. I was pleased when he was chosen as leader and had high hopes for him. I still expect that he will one day be seen as being as capable as some of our previous leaders.

KO - There is a feeling in some quarters that the PM and his supporters have lost the support of many traditional Looniests.
AG - Certainly some in the party have suggested that banning a blue-collar sport like League while allowing silvertail Union to flourish hints at just how far some elements of the leadership have lost their sense of what being Loony is all about. I would never say that. The PM has made clear where he stands in relation to traditional Loony values and I doubt the disillusionmnent in the party will actually amount to much. Knowing the PM as well as I do, I'd suggest that his appearance of disregard for traditional Loony values is grossly overstated.

KO - Will you completely rule out a leadership challenge?
AG - I have no leadership ambitions of my own and the PM is currently leading the party.

KO - Will you rule out supporting a leadership bid by one of your colleagues?
AG - I don't deal in hypotheticals. If a leadership challenge presents itself I will deal with that at that time.

KO - Thanyou for you time Minister.
AG - Thank you Kerry.

So much in this forum about the efforts and accomplishments of those believing they are in control of this country and so little about the public servants who selflessly serve them, particularly their Principle Private Secretaries. Why don’t these buffoons admit that they are simply serving as mere Post Offices for the adroit works of these unsung heroes?

This is how it was elucidated to me, after a recent round of golf with Robert Appleby, by no less than his Uncle, Sir Humphrey.

“My dear sir, the traditional allocation of executive responsibilities has always been so determined as to liberate the ministerial incumbent from the administrative minutiae by devolving the managerial functions to those whose experience and qualifications have better formed them for the performance of such humble offices, thereby releasing their political overlords for the more onerous duties and profound deliberations which are the inevitable concomitant of their exalted position”.
