Roast Sack Koch - Chairman of The Redeem Team

Dear David,

We may have short memories David but at least what we do remember is accurate not like the incorrect garbage you just served up.

If you are going to quote facts to support your Board's poor decision making make sure your facts are correct.

Here is a fact for you, you got it wrong as you and your Board should have waited until after the finals were done and dusted, that way the criterion for Ken's reappointment was winning finals.

You keep going back to our past but how about you project into the future? How about you tell us what are your criteria for reappointing Ken Hinkley at the end of 2025? What do you see as the benchmark David?

Whenever you attempt to justify your decision you keep saying 'we' as if the entire football club is united behind your decision. That is another error in judgement as a significant percentage of the supporter base question the timing of your decision.

Signed

One slight amendment (I agree with the rest). I'm not questioning the timing of the decision - I'm questioning why we resigned Ken at all. I don't for a second buy the lie that Hinkley is the best possible candidate for the job: in fact, given the last decade of failures, I strenuously suggest that he's the WORST possible candidate!!!!!

How's THE DATA TM

I'd love to question the 'it's not the SANFL anymore!' crowd and ask them how many decades our grand final and premiership droughts would have to last before it would be reasonable for us to expect some sort of success. They carry on as though we're a relatively successful AFL club such as Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney or West Coast and just expect way too much when the actual reality is that we're a poorly performed club and have every right to ask questions regarding how our club can be better.
Monday marks exactly 19 years since our last premiership - before this current administration darkened the doors of the club, the longest drought in club history had been 12 years, so I don't think it's a crime to be upset now!!!

in 1997 we started with nothing. SANFL players and a few recruits from other clubs and the worse concession of any team to join the AFL.. yet we won a flag in just our 8th year in the AFL, and probably should have won 1 or 2 more before that

Then in 2007 (our 11th year in the AFL) we made a second grand final although we try and wipe that from our memory

Jump ahead 14 more years and we haven't got to a GF and lost 3 prelims and had some extremely embarrassing finals losses including 2 this year

and apparently that's acceptable

Kock has to fall on his sword

If Koch and his Board got the timing right and the performance indicators included winning finals we would not have re signed Ken. It is all about the timing- Koch should have waited until after the finals.

in the end it was a face saving exercise for Koch because he kept telling anyone who would listen that, 'we will make a decision in August'. It got to the stage where Koch could not be seen to be changing his mind.

When the Chairman says, 'there is no one better' what message does that send to the likes of Josh Carr? Josh might as well pack his bags and do what Voss and Nicks have done.

And thats the difference between Choc and Donuts. Choc managed to get a team to a grand final that in reality probably that no right to be there. Yes it was a disaster on the day, but at least he got us there

We had the worst concessions for sure but we didn't actually start with nothing. Wanganeen, Lade, Tredrea, P. Burgoyne, Paxman, Francou, R James, Wilson, Dew and Mead were the basis of a pretty good side. Most importantly we also had some pretty astute people working behind the scenes in Brian Cunningham, Greg Boulton and Jack Cahill. Critically these were people who were well versed in the Port way of doing things as they had all worked at Alberton in some capacity prior to AFL. They were not the blow ins we have these days.

I agree, Koch has to go but I think his mind is in some galaxy far far away where he is allowed to make any stupid decision and not be held to account.

We actually won the Prelim Final against North Melbourne by 87 points so we earned the right to be there. We were just not good enough on the day. I have to admit that on the 22nd of September after we had demolished North I was pretty confident but a week can be a long time in footy. Ouch.

You made me revisit 2007 to get that North score- oh the pain of it all. :thumbsdownv1:

I am hoping a high profile whistle blower dumps a Lance Armstrong level accusation against the Geelong football club regarding their "high" performance program.

I agree we had the talent (nothing was a bit harsh) but apart from Wanganeen we didnt have what i would call A-Grade AFL players. Paxman, Breuer, Lyle etc were good average AFL players. The others were SANFL players who became stars

We didnt get access to 100 top 10 draft picks like GWS and Gold Coast. Considering all that we did a fantastic job in our early years

He have completely shit the bed in the last 10+ years with very talented lists.. and guess who has been in charge during that time

I see Charlie Dixon hasn't improved his image with Port fans. When asked about his reaction to the response from the white noise since the club's departure from the finals, he replied, "They're entitled to their 2 cents worth, but that's about all it's worth", or words to that effect.

Henceforth referred to as '2 Cent Charlie'.

There will be so much heat on datadonuts next year that Carr most probably takes charge by around the bye.

I’d give peg leg 2 cents salary for the year given what he dished up.
