This is everyone’s record combined since Hinkley took over

Geelong 163-71-3
Sydney 149-87-2
Richmond 143-91-4
Port Adelaide 143-95
Hawthorn 132-103-3
Collingwood 132-104-2
Western Bulldogs 124-114
West Coast 122-115-1

Fremantle 120-116-2
Adelaide 116–120-1*
GWS 112-122-4
Melbourne 112-125-1
Brisbane 111-127
Essendon 106-130-2
St Kilda 95-141-2
North Melbourne 89-148-1
Carlton 84-153-1
Gold Coast 72-164-2

Only the bolded haven’t made a grand final yet…. Spot the outlier.
It also shits me that they defend Hinkley's inability to take a team into a GF it with the it's not the SANFL anymore argument and that we all have unrealistic expectations.

With Brisbane/Carlton making the GF this year, 12 out of 18 teams (67%) will have made the GF in the time Hinkley's been coaching Port.

Over the same period 7 out of 10 SANFL teams (70%) will have made the GF.

When you're looking at the potential for a team to make a GF over a decade or so, there's fück all difference whether you're in the AFL or SANFL.

Math is 18/2=9 v 10/2=5

It should be twice as easier to be in the SANFL GF than in the AFL GF.

But that’s not how it works. It’s always harder for some clubs.

In SANFL history, Port would play in a GF every 2 years. The other clubs had to share the remaining 3 spots.

That's some good data to forward onto Kockie & Richo

No - he goes full "It's not the SANFL" in this one:

Actually I dont mind what he says here. He says it in a way that is not condescending, or putting the supporters down. He proposes some possible reasons, which is fair enough. And his "It's not the SANFL" comment is at least backed up with reasons why we cant expect to dominate the competition for decades, which is all correct, we know and accept that. Along with the draft system, and the salary caps, the system now is different to the one in which we played up to 1996. It is designed to create evenness.

That being said, he also says there is nothing wrong with still living the creed, "we exist to win premierships," but there will be disappointment along the way. Which is true & we all acknowledge that.

What we hate is the spin, the lies, the deferment of blame, the mismanagement, the constant coaching mistakes, the failure to acknowledge mistakes, the total acceptance of a losing/mediocre culture, the gaslighting of hoards of loyal passionate supporters, the lack of corporate governance ... I could go on!

So all up I thought his take was fair enough for a neutral. His take on Koch & his interview was spot on!

I'd love to question the 'it's not the SANFL anymore!' crowd and ask them how many decades our grand final and premiership droughts would have to last before it would be reasonable for us to expect some sort of success. They carry on as though we're a relatively successful AFL club such as Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney or West Coast and just expect way too much when the actual reality is that we're a poorly performed club and have every right to ask questions regarding how our club can be better.

As you point out the mathematical argument is not really relevant.

It only applies if all teams are created equal and their presence in a grand final is randomly selected.

If there are significant distinguishing factors in the real world (let's say one team has a non-performing culture enabled by non-accountable leadership) then the pure mathematical argument falls away.

. And his "It's not the SANFL" comment is at least backed up with reasons why we cant expect to dominate the competition for decades, which is all correct, we know and accept that.
The problem with him, and every other ****nuckle, saying it though is that it perpetuates the belief that Port supporters have ever had the expectation that we would dominate the afl like we did the sanfl. No one ever expected this. It's disingenuous bullshit

Wow, in 2002 Port were in their 6th year in the AFL FFS, Choco was in his 4th year as an AFL coach, how is this even a comparison to an 11 year failed car salesman, that has burnt 3 lists.

I know Choco had his faults but he loved Port Adelaide.

Ken Hinkley should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as our Premiership coach in Mark Williams.

David Koch you disgust me and talk utter nonsense.
And Choco didn't go out in straight sets!

Yes in one way I agree. But we are playing under a different system to the pre-AFL team, with a deck that is stacked against non-Vic sides. We have to acknowledge that! The big issue in my mind, is how do then handle the situation. Hide from it, never mentioning it, as you intimate? Accept it as the new norm as this current regime has done? OR ...attack it as the new challenge to crest, in the way that this club has done with every other challenge thrown at us over the last century!

Denying it as being a new challenge we face and have to overcome, IMO, is a dumb as the manner in which the Hinkley Koch Football Club is currently doing - Using it as an excuse for failures, and to remain a middle-of the road mediocre, "lil ol' battler club."

Koch & Hinkley disappearing into the sun cant come soon enough!

Go and find out more about the PAFC Davo before you open your gob.
On the contrary - David is fully conversant with the new Port Adelaide that he's created. It's the rest of us that have to catch up with the real world: especially that heathen Warren Tredrea!!!!

"Be happy with what you've achieved in the last 4 or 5 years"

"David Koch’s career has been filled with ‘number ones’ including currently being the co-host of the number one breakfast television show in the country – Sunrise. Today he added to that list, when he was announced as the Joint No. 1 Ticket Holder of the Port Adelaide Football Club."

Koch's career sure has been filled with number ones, like blasting piss all over everything.
