I almost forgot.

This energetic young lady walked in the disco round lunchtime and asked if Malaka was around. I said I hadn't seen him for ages and she looked heartbroken.

She said something about leaving in the morning and wanting to hook up before she left. Hope I haven't left it too late mate. 🤔

"Top Three Concerts of Decade"

Hope this doesn't get lost in the general disco but since its the start of a new decade I love to know peoples Top Three Concerts of the last Decade that they attended.

Here's mine in chronological order

Primal Scream - Screamadelica Tour - The Forum Melbourne - February 2011

Loved the album when it came out and jumped at the chance to see it performed live. Bit concerned that at 58 it might have been a bit loud for me so it was the first concert I've been to where I've worn earplugs. Took them out after the first song and worked my way to front - brilliant concert - Bobby was in fine form.

Couldn't hear for three days - f***ing brilliant!!!

Fat Freddy's Drop - Waitangi Day Concert - Queenstown New Zealand - February 2017

Built a holiday just around seeing this concert as FFD hadn't been to Melbourne for years. Spectacular setting overlooking the lake and the Remarkables mountain range at sunset. The Drop were fantastic. Once again worked my way right to the front and was doing my 64 yo "white man groove" when I bumped into a young Maori guy in front of me - he turned around - did a double take - then gave a big smile, a high five (and then a joint).

Stunning show, stunning setting, stunning performance.

Mojo Juju - Fairfax Studio - Arts Centre Melbourne - August 2018

First public performance of the Native Tongue album. Front row of the Fairfax Studio (Seats only 350 people) Mojo not only performed the album but talked about the significance of each song, its genesis, its connection to her and her family.

Truly truly emotionally incredible show and privileged to have been an audience member.

That's a quality review pebblesofsand 👊

Melbourne is the live music capital of the world apparently so we're spoilt for choice, and since they invented streaming, big screens and quality sound systems nobody needs to deal with international flights and accomodation, inflated ticket and drink prices or even a delegated driver to get you home later. You just need the internet, YouTube and a stocked fridge.

But then it gets interesting: what would you most like to listen to anyway?

So .... I wish I caught the David Byrne American Utopia Tour last year.

And one year I'll get to WOMAD. (I'd love to see Jorge Ben Jor there this year but I have a feeling it's not happening again.)

But I've been looking for these guys for ages and for right this moment they're just right.
