He was much better than Clapton as a blues guitarist, in my humble opinion. Drugs destroyed him, of course, as they did many of his rock contemporaries, such as Syd Barrett. Damn shame.

He's possibly my favourite blues guitarist. Out of the ones that play in that style anyway. At his peak he was untouchable imo.

Not sure if I've mentioned I saw him at Byron Bluesfest. Unbelievable gig. I was right up the front. Bloody loud. Gary was so into it. He really gets into it and gives it everything.
