Saints GF tickets..

the corp $$ subsides the average punters ticket price. if you cant afford a membership then how are you going to afford a GF ticket?? we live in a capitalist society.

Especially in Carlton. No doubt you pay for your membership by scamming little old ladies out of their lifes savings. :p

Explain to me how any non-privately owned company can justify a corporate box.

Non-privatly owned??? so you are taling about public companys i.e. BHP, NAB etc

they justify having them as they use them to entertain prospective and prefered clients they also give them to employees. Like normal people these companys allow part of their budget for entertainments.

Yes a junket. Explain how it benefits the shareholder. Of course in the corrupt land of the Carlton supporters it is necessary to bribe or shmooze a prospective client before you can get a customer, maybe you take them out to Goldfingers as well. Probably winning Government business away from organisations that only promise better pricing and/or service.

welcome to capitalism Commie....

welcome to capitalism Commie....

You are confusing capitalism with corruption but thats normal for a Carlton supporter.

I think you will find more of it going on in China ( Commie ) than it does in Australia, and I think you will find it is actually a hinderence to the capitalist system.

The footy show flog grand final packages in their GF show. Its a breakfast function thing and then to the game.

I only took notice of it last year because I thought 'wow, im surprised there are still tickets available at this time of the week'. They charge a pretty penny though. Can't remember the price but two figures enter my mind (both wildly different) $500 and $1200.

It's not cheap, but neither is an ebay ticket (prohibited for finals tickets I believe, so you run the risk of having it cancelled at the gate).

GL folks and see yas in the finals.

The AFL has posted an approximation of GF ticket allocations on the website - scroll to the very bottom
Competing Club Members 16000 – 26000
AFL Clubs (16 x 1000) 16000

MCC Reserve 16000 – 26000

AFL Members 13000 – 23000
AFL/Medallion Club Members 4500 – 5000
AFL Entitlements/Contractual Obligations 5000 – 15000

Competing Clubs 0 – 2500

They are some pretty "loose" figures, especially the two highlighted. I'm sure they would have a fair idea on how many tickets are tied up in entitlements/contractual obligations, and they should know how many seats are in the AFL Members reserve.

Everything about Grand Final ticketing gives me the shits. Everything.

Thanks for that tandino. :thumbsu:

It's actually that top figure that is of most interest to our supporters.

From what it says there, the maximum tickets allocated to club members is 26,000. Bearing in mind St Kilda have 11,500 Social Club members who are guaranteed GF tickets if they want them, that leaves at the very most 1500 tickets to football club members. As it's quite likely we will be up against a team with a higher membership than us, we will actually get less tickets than what they get as well.

And to be honest, it's actually the 1000 tickets to each AFL club that most gives me the shits. Each club sells them off to corporates for a significant profit each season. I can't understand why at least half of those tickets don't go straight to club members. That alone would be another 8,000 to the two competing club membership bases.

I dont agree with these either, most of the 1000 tickets are sold off, the non-competing clubs say they make a few hundred thou by selling them off but is this not a form of scalping??? i beleive these 14k tickets should go to the competing clubs and the afl should give to the competing clubs. if the other clubs need to be compensated, so be it.

IMO and then ballot off the rest of the 8K tickets to people who want to go from other clubs.

Get this one (I was actually going to bring it up at the Hawthorn AGM but forgot). Last year, where do you think the majority of the 1,000 tickets Hawthorn received on top of the member allocation went? You'd think to members given we were playing. Nah, they went to CENTRE SQUARE.

Bloody Centre Square. Joe Blow can't sell their tickets for $150, but they can package up some grog and food and flog them at 2k a piece. If that isn't ticket scalping I don't know what is.

Ebay worked for me over the years. Scored a ticket for $200 from a nice guy in adelaide for 2005 GF. Sat amongst the sydney cheersquad. Was offered another ticket in the same area for $600.

Got tickets through an AFL member in 2006

Paid $950 for two tickets for 2007 GF via someone off of ebay

You just have to keep your eyes open. I missed out on the ballot but got one from a bloke on here. There will be a few with extra tickets on here that are willing to sell them, if your lucky like me they wont ask for anything more than the ticket price.

I remember last year I got one on here, and at the same time I was talking to another guy on here about an extra ticket he had just in case plan a fell through, and also spoke to someone who was selling one for about $500, so there are definitely opportunities if you work hard enough.
