Rain would be great for us I think. Bartel, Ablett and Selwood come to life in the wet, and would help cover the loss of Egan.

Port have more runners than us, do they struggle in the wet? Our encounter earlier in the year at AAMI was in the wet and we won comfortably, though admittedly you guys are a different team now than you were then.

Mixed bag really. We killed the saints in the wet earlier in the year, and played pretty well in the monsoon against the cats in pre-season. I think our skills will still shine through unless it's ridiculous weather.

We beat Collingwood in the wet at the MCG earlier in the year, and played pretty good wet weather football.

If we are honest the wet weather will not help us. Our players like dry conditions so we can use our pace and skill.
Wet weather would also nullify the advantage of Egan being out.

A few showers means nothing. That could be just 0.1mm of rain, really. If it said arvo showers, showers or rain I would be worried, but this would just mean a few scattered blotches of rain in the day, nothing that would seriously effect the Grand Final, IMO.

Just to add: the forecast for the whole week is scattered showers/a few showers, every day. So it will probably be a bit slippery even if the skies are clear.

Yeah, but the draining system at the MCG is effective, and if its just scattered showers there should be sun in between to dry it off (knowing Melbourne). Still, even if it is a little bit slippery, I don't think it will be enough to affect either side too much.

We also drew in the pre-season agaist you in the wet before Chad & Ebo choked missing easy shots in overtime.

If it does rain, the entire game will be decided by who can win the clearances and I think we can do the job in that area with Lade & Brogan giving our rovers first look.

And who can recover best from muckups. Our players are actually becoming very good at cleaning up after their own or teammates' bungles. Rodan comes to mind here. Only a split second of  before he converted that goal Lade handed off to him.

^I obviously wasn't thinking properly when I wrote that post.

However, it won't give us an advantage.

We play better when we're able to run run run, bouncing the ball, handballing through the corridor... which won't be helped with rain.

But yes, thinking about our wet weather efforts, we have been good, and clearances and hardball gets are two of our key areas this season.

I don't think wet weather will help us at all. Jimmy Bartel is a GUN wet weather footballer, and whilst we are pretty good in the wet, i'd back us more in the dry.
