I fully understand that you'll defend this Conservative government, including as low as attacking deceased and alleged rape victims due to the position and political beliefs of the alleged rapist.
There’s a thread for discussion on Pell. I invite you to raise any issues on that matter there.

Edit: I now realise you were talking about Porter. I’ve lost my capacity to discuss that issue on the appropriate thread so without wanting to derail this one I’ll repeat that I have no idea as to his guilt or innocence. And I don’t believe I ever attacked his deceased accuser. I challenge you to quote where I did without editing the quote.

Despite what Swan says - havnt both pfizer and the government confirmed the story is false, that there was no specific offer made in that meeting?

I believe both sides have stated the meeting was simply a "here is where we are at" type affair,
Was it Morrison, Hunt, Porter some other incompetent Conservative MP/Senator who confirmed this? I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of any of their mouths, it's just like dealing with Bigfooty RWNJ's, but this time they're on the public purse.

Putting aside for a minute the blame for our vaccine roll out, and I'm not sure where it lies.

Why should Australia be a priority for vaccine access in the first place? It seems odd for progressive types to be raging about that.
Why are you framing it as though there's some kind of international government/benevolent entity deciding on the allocation of vaccines to the needy? The way it works is that countries can buy vaccines. The kind of market 'conservatives' are in favour of - incentivising productivity, all that sort of thing. Our government unfortunately didn't buy enough of the better vaccines. Unsurprisingly, we have therefore had a slow and ineffective vaccine rollout. Why do you keep banging on as though there's some kind of priority need-based system? It doesn't exist. Maybe we should've bought a bunch of vaccines and donated them if we were so concerned about helping out other countries.

Im not certain but I think we’ve donated something like 20 million vaccines to some of our poorer neighbours.

But I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about us, the people. Why aren’t we saying “Yeah well we’re at the back of the line but that’s fair enough because our need is less urgent”.

Because for 12 months they've been telling us we are at the front of the queue.

Because we know that that's not why the incompetent buffoons have us at the back of the queue. They've also been continually lying that we are in fact at the front of the queue. While we're waiting for the vaccine maybe we could implement a carbon tax, given that'd be doing right by the rest of the world as well and the need for developing countries to burn fossil fuels is more urgent

Ah, the old 'we should be looking out for other countries' argument that the lickspittles try and wheel out when they've got nothing else. Always very amusing when they conveniently start giving a shit about Australia being a good global citizen. :)

The Europeans changed their mind. And probably rightly so.

Now I’m sure there’s a climate change thread somewhere to argue that ridiculous point. I’ll drop over there if I can find the energy.

That I get. I mean, from a personal perspective lockdowns work great for me, I’m an early riser so I can knock out most of my work between 5 and 8 I disturbed then deal with the kids etc.

For the kids it was horrendous.

But the death rate in these other countries. I look at it and, I dunno, it kind of feels like we’re pushing old ladies out of the way to get toilet paper.

No one is dying here. The lockdowns aren’t necessary. The US has 50 odd states with varying degrees of lockdown enthusiasm and the stats show they probably do more harm than good.

Even the massive lockdown last year in Melbourne, the serious infection levels were pretty localised and the deaths were for the most part in aged care facilities.
This was because of the lockdowns...

Im not making the argument. I’m just wondering why you’re not.

The Europeans have nothing to do with the lack of Pfizer.

You're rather selective in when you choose to be a good global citizen aren't you?

Look, I'll be honest, I'm largely concerned that a bunch of hopeless f***wits who couldn't organise a root in a brothel are in charge, rather than this specific failing of theirs being the main concern.

Nah I’m just bored with the whole climate hysteria. I mean, seriously, how many times do we have to put up with “the reef is dying” or “this drought is permanent”.

At what point do we get to say “the scientists are full of shit”?

Ah ok so it's just climate you're against. Been campaigning hard for more refugees and foreign aid as good global citizens then?

"Bruce is full of shit" is probably the closest we will get.

When Scomo turned down 40 million Pfizer doses last year, that's exactly what he was thinking, "I just wanna be a good global citizen and let Israel have all the doses first"
