Scott Pendlebury - Standing in the game?

Meteoric Rise - I notice On The Couch listed CD's Best Finals Players since 2010, referencing the 100x formula.

They had:
1. Martin
2. Swan
3. Crisp
4. Goodes

You've got to get with the times and if you're going to reference CD Ratings, you've got to go with how they use the data nowadays, and acknowledge they have rated Jack Sinclair as the games best player for the past two years running.

Lol so now you are telling me to use the ratings system you think throws up wrong results and eschew the ratings system that produces credible results.

WTF is it with Richmond posters turning everything into a Dusty comparison? What, can’t both be champions of the game or something FFS. Have a lie down you Tiger folk and just calm the farm.

Both will be recognised as Hall of Famers and rightfully so.

The thread is about Pendles as he pretty much dragged the Pies over the line in the last quarter to win this years premiership.

Richmond supporters truly are the low IQ, humour challenged, no-class trash of the AFL. It's unbelievable how unhinged the Pies winning the flags has made them. They don't even have the grace to acknowledge an indisputable legend of the game like Scot Pendlebury.
Give me Blues or Bombers supporters any day.

I couldn't agree more. But can you show us where a Richmond supporter turned it into a Dusty comparison on this thread....

You must mean other Richmond supporters. I was already unhinged before 3d printed Richmond FC won the flag and I have acknowledged Pendlebury's standing in the game.

Pendles is a legend.

Him and Sidebottom, play the game as it should be played. It made Collingwood winning a flag more bearable knowing two very deserving players got it.

Agreed, they do it at home or far away as well. Also impressed at how much they love their club and play to win.

I've always felt he has been slightly underrated by supporters. Wasn't seen as flashy as some of the elite of the game as he didn't have explosive pace, kick miraculous goals, take high flying marks or break tackles.

The fact is he has plenty of flash it's just to subtle for a lot to recognise its brilliance.

The footage they showed of Pendles on ‘On The Couch’ being the general in that last quarter shows exactly why he is a champion of the game and should go down as one of the best in the modern era.

Daicos and JDG continue to (rightfully) get the accolades for setting up and kicking the goal that put Collingwood back in front, yet it was Pendles who was the general that orchestrated it all through his leadership. Then the footage in the next centre bounce where he drops to CHB straight after the next centre bounce and laid the spoil when Brisbane were charging. There’s a serious lack of appreciation for his greatness by some nuffies.

Majority see it and acknowledge it though.

EDIT: What I was referencing.

‘Conductor’ moments reveal Pies great’s true genius — and how he swung the Grand Final

“Jonathan Brown even put Pendlebury in the same influential bracket as four-time premiership Hawk Luke Hodge and three-time premiership Lion Michael Voss.”

How the heck do you make a list like that and not have hodge? I guess his best finals series isn't being counted (08).

Edit: oh it is a CD list. Fair enough. That could mean anything.

I rank Pendlebury alongside Hodge, Mitchell and Diesel Williams for having an incredible football brain and seeing things and processing things quicker and better than everyone else on the football field. So it doesn't really matter that he isn't the fastest, strongest athlete. He may not produce a highlights reel to rival the game's Supermen like Dangerfield, Martin, Ablett or Judd.

What he does is play the game at superior level to everyone else around him, almost every time he takes the field. He just makes it look easy. He makes the right decisions every time and he uses the ball superbly.

Consistent excellence over 16 years.

He is the best Collingwood player in my lifetime. Better than Swan; better than Buckley and better than Peter Daicos.

What has been great is the past couple of seasons where first Selwood was incredibly influential in the first half of Geelong's 2022 Grand Final win, immediately followed up in 2023 by Pendlebury (specifically his last quarter in a tight contest).

What a great way for two out and out champions to farewell the game (albeit Pendlebury still has a year or maybe two left).

This x100, and to think I was actually happy for them when they finally got up in 2017. Well those bridges are burnt now so they can burn in their own salt for all I care. Floreat Pica.

Never forget when Collingwood beat them in a pre-season game in 2017, their supporters got so furious and unhinged that the Pies posters actually had to go over and console them, and remind them it was just a pre-season game. Absolute loons out there, and the mods are enablers.

Gunston has 35 goals in finals. Any other player done that since 2010?

I think Charlie Cameron has 40. How many have Franklin and Hawkins kicked since 2010?
Gordon Coventry’s 111 is insane. Next best is 78
