Didn't he say he would basically retire if a good coaching gig came along? As an assistant obviously. Am i misinterpreting what he said? All weird-ass theories aside... it was a dumb thing for Scott to say... him being captain and all...

he follows the nba too closely, and has applied the senior player for hire / biggest offer wins / auctioning approach to his comments. All weird-ass theories aside... it was a dumb thing for Scott to say... him being captain and all...
Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
At a time when the club has sacked its coach, finished 2nd last, and is suffering from perceived instability it would have been nice for someone to take a stand and say "the club is bigger than all of us, it's bigger than me and my contract".
That man was not Pendlebury; the guy appointed captain of the club.
Instead, he chose to put himself up for auction.
Nice.
Yep, he then apologised for the confusion. All good Scott.
Can't help but think the whole Ed, Bucks exit stage right thing has left Scott a little rattled...
Scott’s comments may seem like a faux-pas or non-issue, but they set a culture in which Brodie Grundy holds the club to ransom for a 7 year, 7 million dollar contract.
These attitudes filter down and have real world ramifications on our potential for on-field success.
Mutual sacrifice gets you a dynasty. Bleeding the club gets you to a prelim if you’re lucky.
Yep it’s cultural kryptonite and will have subtle but lasting flow on effects. This is what the young collingwood players see their leaders do, the "right" thing to do is now auction yourself up to get the MAXIMUM possible salary. Good for Pendles bank balance, very bad for the club and its supporters.

Evidently it was such a tawdry offer that Scrooge McPendles was forced to play it out in the media to reach a liveable sum.How much has the club offered him?
He apologised for that though didn’t he?Evidently it was such a tawdry offer that Scrooge McPendles was forced to play it out in the media to reach a liveable sum.
It’s great he apologised for the ‘confusion.’ But IMO we got a window into the value systems and culture filtering from the top down at Collingwood. He apologised for that though didn’t he?

Time to shuffle him out of the captaincy regardless, but need to bring in a more selfless, team oriented captain to Instill those values through the playing group.
Not sure who fits the bill really. Not Pendles, not Grundy, not DeGoey, not Sidey… Maybe Adam’s, but you can’t have your captain shanking it for opposition goals 2-3 times a game…
It’s settled, Nate Murphy for captain. So selfless he doesn’t get any touches so everyone else can have a crack.
Hopefully Moore if he stays, he doesn't seem money hungry and has a good head on his shoulders.
I agree, I have Moore and then daylight. Has stepped up on the field and off the field for us.Moore by the length of the Flemington straight for me.
Inspirational on the ground, well spoken off it, and atypically well considered for a Collingwood footballer.
Scott has been through a couple of hard years at the tail end of his career. We need some fresh attitude and enthusiasm.
In the HS today..How much has the club offered him?
If true, I hope the club sticks to its guns. Pendles has been a wonderful player but is not worth more than that, and at his age should only be on a one year deal.In the HS today..
Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury and the Pies penny pinchers are at an impasse over the star’s new contract.
One of the highest paid players in the game, Pendlebury’s new deal to remain a Pie is currently at a stalemate with the club offering its captain a one year deal believed to be $500,000.
But the Pendlebury camp is refusing to budge, seeking a two year deal.
A 2 year deal would see him out. Prior to injuring his finger and ribs he was our best midfielder to date (prior to De Goey evolving). I would like to see a one year offer with a games clause to trigger a second year.In the HS today..
