Word in the media is that Pendles will likely be offered a two year extension... I think that that's reasonable given his durability and skill. What's the consensus?
Happy if it's low money, but we'll never know that part of it. So no idea.

Another addition to the endless list of club administration and leaders rolling over and folding to the needs of individual players. I love Pendles but I don't like how he's carried out getting his extension one bit. Hopefully it's on (relatively) low money and he can see out the two seasons

So long as the club uses this two year period as a transition period to ease a new long term captain in with Pendles mentoring on not too much coin I would be satisfied.
It would be a shame to waste Pendles captainly mentoring on a short term new captain.

Appoint someone that has the qualities and is young enough to work into the role and provide stable leadership for years after Pendles retires.

I feel like it's a bit premature to call it "rolling over and folding" before any of the specifics have even been rumoured. It could be that they, y'know, came to a compromise?

Why is it we promote the posting of pointless falsehoods?

Anyone with a brain who can read knew that the media reports were nothing by fabrications.

I love how so many peoples responses are tainted by the Media's false claims that Pendles wanted to leave a for a year and an assistant coaching job.
A falsehood.

Reading back through the "dumb" responses and simply wrong positions held due to not being able to comprehend a players words is amazing.
Some of these posters will now spend a couple of weeks defending their ill informed, knee jerk responses with half truths and just plain stupid pig headedness.

No point in trying to convince them PE, the media use their power to manipulate public opinion for their own ends but very few believe it because it makes them feel very insecure if they think about it too long.

Because if you accept it's true that means there is no possible access to pure, undiluted factual reportage and we are swimming in a sea of lies and deceit.

It's true.

Content with 2 because I assume the 2nd year would have triggers, but at the end of the day it’s about 2023 cap impact for ne. If it were $300k x 2 + bonuses I’d be happy, same for $500k + $200k because I’m no longer concerned we’ll be tipping anyone out this off-season. However if it were anything over $300k in year 2 as a base I’d be ropeable.

Two will see him out I guess. OK with it as long as he hasn’t demanded a top 5 salary.

Interesting to compare his recent career trajectory to two other old timers in Mundy and Boak, one who has had something of a renaissance at 36 and one who at 33 seems to actually be getting better with age.

Dont get we wrong, i love Pendels BUT the club offers a one year contract (as you are getting towards the end of your career) and instead of putting the club first and ackowledging all they have done for you and you for them and accepting it, you follow the path of a long line of Collingwood players who put themselves before the club. Melb didnt win the premiership this year because they were a better team (same team as last year) they won because the players gave 150% and all bought into the plan of club first. Its why our past two premierships have not resulted in a dynasty. As soon as the Pies win a GF, the player managers on behalf of their clients have their hands out for more money even before the premiership cup is lifted. CLUB FIRST, ALWAYS!

100% agree on Club First and that's what gets you prolonged success.

But can you explain how Pendles didn't put the club first? Are you saying all this based off overplayed media articles?
