Anyone have any idea what this will be???o_O

Well if it's Kyneton related as many are suggesting, any guys looking for a kick are more than welcome 35 minutes away in Kilmore. Very young list crying out for a few experienced bodies/heads to help develop a keen group of youngsters ;)

Private messages welcome.

Most of the good ones have left Doona - from a Gissy point of view we don't mind if you want to pick at the bones - you may uncover a gem.

I personally hope they keep the doors open, but anyone who knows me fully understands my interest is working with and keeping young blokes playing footy. I wouldn't know one footballer over Kyneton, merely offering (worst case scenario) if guys needed/wanted a place to have a kick.

No but Kyneton folding creates a space ......they are south of the Calder.....new team can come in.

so everyone is speculating that the VERY FIRST thing the new board overseeing multiple leagues including the BFL has done is approached Echuca as its number 1 priority and is now in dealings with them to switch over to BFL. FLUFF. a clear 12 months needed and would have to apply now to get in next year.Would be a crazy move and only have a short term gain.

as a side note and if he has signed a 2 year contract if Kyneton did go into recess would they be obligated to pay the coach for the agreed sum for 2 years? anyone know the legality of this?

Meeting last night at Kyneton with the league that they will shut the doors for the year.
Will still have a thirds run around every week though

That is big news. They will be lucky to play again in the BFL.

If they hope to have any sort of a future in the BFNL they would want to field a reserves side to keep things ticking over for local kids (too old for the under 18's). If they don't do this then I cannot see any future for them in the BFNL.

Really hope Kyneton can regroup and get their stuff sorted. Played a couple of games with the club last year and when I was there, the club morale and spirits seemed to be pretty good.

Terrible news... Can't see them pulling it together in just 10 days... So, whats next?
A year off - reduce debt - try and get 25 players for 2014. My personal opinion is that they won't get quality back to compete in the BFL - it's RDFL time.

My question would be why would the BFL board take so long to sit down and have this kind of chat or offer assistance. Unfortunately for Kyneton the horse seems to have bolted.

The other thing that has me stuffed is how a town the size of Kyneton cant sustain a footy club. I suppose that is the million dollar question though. Being from a club that almost went under a few years ago I really feel for those that remain and hope something can be done to help them

Think it might be GVFL side Echuca being sounded out very hard by the BFL....Not the first time in the last 3 years that this has been discussed by the BFL....Sad to see a club fold if that is what happens :(

I believe the board has put a considerable amount of time and effort into assisting Kyneton over a long period. There's only so much they can do; ultimately the responsibility lies with the club.

Agreed. Both questions are big but in fairness until training resumed probably last week it would be hard to gauge player numbers. Board probably around the mark in meeting time frame for mine. I think Kyneton have known for a while they are in trouble if as stated they have called every senior player on their list as they would be space cadets if they didnt know which way it was headed in player numbers.

Totally 100% agree though there has to be a major issue with the club in not being able to attract players and also retain locals who will travel to train and play at other clubs. 6500 people in Kyneton which amazes me how they cant get a team. Around the same size as Kyabram and Ky would have another 50+ players minimum living in Ky playing in KDFL teams. It has to be long time cultural issue within the town and club or the club hasnt made the locals the focal point of the club in retaining them. Its great to recruit but not to the detriment of retaining every local player wanting to play who usually prop up bars, sponsorship and usually volunteers.
If they have Under 18's and plenty of them I would take a drastic step and play them as senior footballers were possible and prop them up with a few seniors. The club has to start again and build a culture and the only way is with youth.
One thing I do know is its a long way back in getting a club back from folding and not as easy as saying its starting again next year.

One of those were (not my mob), and 6th and 7th well and truly were. Not about that, I 100% concur with your thinking. In 2005 I coached in a comp that folded, the fear of the unknown etc was terrible for small country towns/communities. One of those clubs has tipped over and no country footy fan wants more clubs to face similar fate.
We have a couple of Kyneton based guys come thru work occasionally and as much as they love the Bendigo FL they'd rather see the club drop back a cog and remain open for business rather than close its doors forever. We were at Kyneton for the races on Sunday, and talking to a few locals who are passionate I just hope for everyone involved you's can plug away for 2013, field teams no matter what and explore your long term options beyond this season from as early as now.

Good Luck :thumbsu:

Don't ever fall for associating the Kyneton Football Netball Club with an arsehat like "Mufassa' - the softest, weeping phallic symbol on Big Footy - Kyneton FNC would rather burn than stomach that fat turds bile.
