Castlemaine look to have improved their line up substantially.

Have named several new players for the clash with Maryborough, including Adam Jago, a huge ruckman which is something they have lacked for several seasons, Josh Gribben a Centre Half Back who has looked very good over the pre season, and Matt Pianto a midfielder who looks impressive.

Castlemaine also named David Taylor who has returned from overseas and have picked up Tom Cain from Maldon, a goal-kicking midfielder who was a strong interleague player in the MCDFNL.

Maryborough v Castlemaine wil be broadcast on WMAfm 94.9 from 1pm Saturday. Those out of broadcast range can stream us at wmafm.com or find us on the Tune In Radio App.

Didn't have to wait long for the season's first draw.

Couldn't get along to the Storm match tonight, the 5:30 start is too much in the middle of things when you have kids under 5.

Does the season kick off this weekend?

Interesting game between Gisborne and Darley on the weekend with Darley winning narrowly.

Interesting part was when then Gisborne coach walked up to Darley coach during the second

quarter and said if you blokes keep going this hard im taking my team off the ground ?

No doubt it had something to do with Darley targeting our younger blokes with late hits and weak as piss cheap shots, which in one case resulted in a Gisborne player being sent to hospital with a badly busted nose. It was pretty ordinary on Darleys behalf i reckon - especially when they look to have a really talented side that may just give the Ballarat flag a shake this year, although they obviously have some discipline issues which they clearly need to work on.

No surprise here at all Bears.
Darley are well renowned for playing the man rather then the ball.
Teams expect that from them week in and week out.. which ables other teams to be them.

How did Gisborne go in the end, will they be better off then last year? or have they dropped off a tad?

Wot is wrong with the hurst, boys too top heavy --- missing l. Coghlan with his run and carry?? Getting symes and haythorpe back will add to scoring ability but add 2 top heavy situation
2 blues backed them selfs b4 season started to end up in top3 on ladder, end of August. maybe they are on the money

Nobody ever mentions his name, but I thought the loss of Pat Jennings to injury early in the game last Sunday both unbalanced and exposed the Dragon backline. He is the one most of all who I would like to see return to the Sandhurst line up.

Anyone know how long he is likely to be out?

Definitely going to Barham on ridiculous money if what I hear is even close to true
Good luck to him if he can get it. Must have to much coin up there at Barham. Did he have a run in with coach at Maine or just couldn't handle another season at the bottom?

:thumbsu: taking pot luck with round 2
storm by a couple of kicks over square//Maryboro magpies by a bit over flat, say 35// burra by a fair bit over Maine, say 47 points & gissy maybe by couple of kicks over bloods, say 11 points
Fly-in blokes 4 south might b good value

Roota thought you would know better than making comments based on rumours and third hand information. Has connections to the area and is playing for a very reasonable amount!!

I only know coz my new mob had a dip at him after our CHB went down and couldn't compete. Good luck to him...I was hoping he would be a team mate of mine but not to be

Anyone know what happened at Gisborne, and not talking about Souths fantastic victory.

South's too good,
Gisborne, lazy, no defense, poor ball handling, except for Messaourdi, Farrugia and a couple of others they have forgot how they got to the Grand Final last year, hard tough football.. But it is only early in the season, best to get these games over early.

One of souths new indigenous boys heard something he didn't like ? Then left the ground and wouldn't come back on? Not sure if any complaint has been lodged? Or whether it was opp player or specator/s? Only going on 2 nd hand info from mate who heard it on radio.

There was a report on ABC radio about it today, didn't hear the whole report but it was a racist taunt from the crowd!!
