Yup. Really just hit the creative wall. Though mind you, once you get to the late 70s, early 80s, mainstream rock and I don't get along super well.

Rock is doing pretty solidly once you're out of the mainstream though.

Highly recommend Hot Snakes and any other project that involves John Reis or Rick Froberg.
