Mt Buller is located directly north of the suburb of Subiaco. The western extremity of the Mt Buller suburb (where reside Headless and manangatang ) is named after Eddie Betts Is A Champ aka EBIAC, which utilising the aussie horror-comedy movie "100 Bloody Acres" is referred to as an estate called Ebi Bloody Acres.

So this is a colloquial reference (obviously). The official name for the estate is Ebiaco. Both names (Ebiaco and Subiaco) hail from a long-lost Hindeallan language spoken among the native population who have long since disappeared. The translation into "Ebiaco" is slightly erroneous, as the name originally given when gazetting the region was "Webiaco" but a word-of-mouth confusion caused the "W" to drop off.

Webiaco and Subiaco are cardinally titled references to satellite districts surrounding a central "Biaco", which, yes indeed, is the original name of the region where the village commune at the foot of Mt Buller now stands. Nobody knows when or why the township adopted the neighbouring mountain for a name, but one thing is sure - it wasn't always so.

It is said that the closed commune under the mountain may even have had another name prior - long lost to time - as the term "Biaco" might actually be an acronym applied by outsiders, abbreviating the full description of "Bastards In A Cult, Ohhr".

Recent suggestions to revert the name of Mt Buller (the geographical feature) itself to its original name have met with various roadblocks, not least of which is difficulty in agreement on what the original name may have been. To date, there is no consensus, as arguments differ between Upiaco, Lurchiaco, Streakofduckshitiaco and Thatscomingdownwithsnowonitiaco.

Beautiful Mobbs!

First fog of the year.
The seasons are a changin'.
The fog up through the gorge at my house this morning looked amazing. You could only see the top of the escarpment, looked amazing. Haven't been in my place for a winter yet, but think the views will be spectacular.

Blue mountains right?
One of my cousin's lives out there, amazing place.
