On a point of order I don't think you can have half a ruler.

A shorter ruler, but not a half one.
Technically it would be half a ruler if it had the 16-30cm measurements on it…

Yeah. Leave the comedy to grumbleguts
My grandmother was really terrible at giving us bad news. She didn't know how to just come out and say something if it were bad or depressing.

I remember one day, she said "I'm having an affair, and you can't tell your grand father."
I said "Why not?"
She said "He died last night."

Every ruler is half a ruler. Every ruler is half the length of a ruler twice as long as it.

Interesting point of order - (if there ever was one that could be called interesting) Half a Ruler:think:

Presumably there are at least two directions that ruler can be halved (perhaps even 3 if wafer thin)

Then of course can we just presume a Ruler is purely an object, but rather a powerful person:

Heaviest

The heaviest monarch is believed to have been Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV, King of Tonga from 1965 to 2006, who at his peak in 1976 was measured as 208.7 kg (460 lb) - so it is conceivable that if someone was a Ruler and weighed just 104kg, could we not call him or her Half a Ruler

Tallest

The tallest height of a president is that of Filip Vujanović of Montenegro standing at 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) tall.[6]

One of the tallest rulers in history was Serb Dusan the Mighty who was King of Serbia (1331–1345) and later Tsar of Serbs, Greeks, and Bulgarians (1346–1355). He was 214 cm tall, in that time the average height was 165-170cm, so he searched all over Europe to find 101 men over 2 meters tall to be part of his personal guard. [7]

It probably unlikely we could find a half a Ruler that was only 107cm The shortest monarch is Queen Victoria of the British Empire, who was believed to be around 4 ft 9 in (1.45 m).[9

Oldest

The oldest ruler, whose date of birth is known, is Giovanni Paolo Lascaris. He was Grand Master of the Order of Saint John until his death at the age of 97 years 47 days. The oldest ruler at the time of taking office is Prem Tinsulanonda, who became regent of Thailand at 96 years 97 days old and ruled for several months. The oldest president at the time of taking office is Mohamed Beji Caid Essebsi who became President of Tunisia at 88 years, 32 days. The oldest monarch at the time of accession is Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait, who started his reign at 83 years, 96 days.

Easily there were half Rulers by age, infact, you draw your own fraction as to how much less than half a Ruler poor little Mary, Queen of Scots, who became Queen of Scotland at six days old.

Last but no least, Half a Ruler could easily be found use duration:

Longest-reigning monarch

The longest undisputed reigning monarch is Sobhuza II, who ruled the Kingdom of Swaziland under the title of Paramount Chief of Swaziland and later King of Swaziland. He ruled for 82 years and 254 days. However, the longest undisputed reigning ruler of a sovereign state is Louis XIV, who ruled the Kingdom of France for 72 years, 3 months, and 18 days.

Name your own fraction for how much less of half a Ruler there people were:

The shortest serving monarch of all time is believed to be Louis XIX of France. After his father's abdication during the July Revolution on 2 August 1830, he ascended to the throne, but abdicated around 20 minutes later. This reign is disputed, as some historians believe this reign is too short to be valid. The next contender is the unnamed daughter of Emperor Xiaoming of Northern Wei who was appointed by her grandmother, Empress Dowager Hu. She reigned for a matter of hours until being replaced by Yuan Zhao.

In more recent history, Dipendra was the undisputed King of Nepal for only around 56 hours in 2001.

While on the topic of life, I watched this pretty decent presentation of the aliens problem by Dr Fatima this morning. TheGoatBaron might also enjoy a look.

Aliens exist and they do control your mind. Look at Mooch

Geeze I just woke up from a grandpa nap and this is what I was faced with! Heavy (and tall and old) reading!

Can we rule a line through this conversation? Or is your half ruler not long enough?

My new avatar rocks all 6 official logos of the Roys over our 33 seasons plus the three fanmade logos created for us by the wider community (The Half Back , big_icky & I dunno who else maybe TheInjuryFactory )

Speaking of logos, now is as good a time as ever to announce the Royals have something cooking for next season. Still in production so no official details to be released at this point.

Nickname change to the "Diana Smashas"?

Can confirm there will be no name change and no change to our colours other than gold potentially being more prominent than purple.
It's cool. Will be interested to see a new way to present the brand. Royals been around a while now, can't really be considered a new club anymore.
