You must really like this version of our guernsey. Nice and clean with no silly sponsors on it.

I'd prefer it with the AFL logo removed or at least made much smaller.

It's only money FFS and whether we have them or not will be the reason why we survive or not.
We must be the only AFL club with so many threads and posts on the subject and so many divided posters.

Surely you are not for real? We seem to be the only AFL club battling to attract a single major sponsor that's why we have threads on it and it's worse because we aren't exactly in a market here flooded with AFL teams. Without the sponsors money and potential future sponsors money the club is up shit creek. Go down to your local SAAFL club and ask them how they'd go without sponsors, you will find at every level of this sport sponsors are key to a clubs survival and competitiveness.

The guernsey will be around longer than any sponsors logo on it.
I still don't get the fixation with bloody sponsors - why are so many people so insecure that they need sexy corporate $ to feel loved?

It's brand association.

Apart from the obvious financial imperative people want to be sponsored by successful, powerful and cool brands because the affiliation makes their club look successful, powerful and cool. By extension any person wearing a jumper with said affiliation on it are deemed to be successful, powerful and cool by their peers (supposedly).

It's the reason why all these d!ckhead teenagers, who have never seen a full game of NBA in their lives, get around in 'retro' Lakers gear instead of the Memphis Grizzlies equivalent.

Ken's way with words is akin to a lot of great sport coaches, they know how to hit the right notes with their players with a few, simple words.

Mike Tyson's coach - Cus D'Amato - had this quality, for some reason Ken's speech reminded me of this quote from Cus: "If you can hit your opponent with two punches, you don’t hit him with one. Get off with some bad intentions in there. Believe in yourself. A guy can feel it if you don’t believe in yourself. Set your mind to make yourself do it.”

Wow. First the chairman and now the coach. Two people at the top I have been impressed by. We have our history to thank for all this. People know where we belong and what we stand for. Kochie's dad played for the club and took him to games. Hinkley can smell a proud tradition and seems to love the challenge of living up to our former legacies such as Foss or Jack.Burgess seems to have come back with the intention of saving his club too.

The most important thing to me is his promise that they will never give up. Never!!! I clapped after his speech. Thank God, the stars or even Kami that we chose him.

Can't hurt to have the link in more than one thread

Ken Hinkley's season launch speech

Thanks for the link Ford....

Great opening to his career, he even looked down the barrell of the camera whilst saying " beware of the sleeping giant, because we're coming!"..........so did I after that.....and I wasn't even at my favourite pr0n site....:p

wow! just awesome to listen to...what an inspirational speaker and someone you'd just love to play for, i don't care who you support...

we may just find players from other clubs wanting to come to port adelaide because they want to be coached by ken...we definitely got the right man!

Nice to hear a coach who appears to pretty much say what he thinks in a clear concise manner.
There is none of this spouting cliches for the media or over-complicating things.
Don't think I'd like to be the player who drops his head if it gets a bit tough......

My Favorite bit was at the end when Ken Said with a look in his eye "Beware the sleeping giant cos here we come " i was clapping
