I'd even take a peeled potato into the game that watch Jake plod around the backline slowing down play and moving around like a rock.
Yeah I heard peeled potato was playing out of his skin..
I heard he was chipping it around the backline, the coach grilled him but got burned in the second half.

Surely we can wedge him into the side somehow and hope he doesn't fritter away chances, or otherwise he'll get a massive bake!

Re clearances they are crucial in this sense: decisive clearances from the centre bounce yield goals. 4 of the 8 in the second stanza v the Dees were from the centre. It's the only way to get a few quick sausages on the trot. Our best games have been when w eco just that. We're not going to get goals from the current back half launching attacks.

Our clearances last week were absolute garbage, partly because of Port’s pressure and partly because we had no composure at all.

That has to improve dramatically this week.

I'm sure 99% of us are expecting that will be the only change they will make. Chris Scott is all about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. So why would this time be any different?

I'd be more surprised if they did actually make more than 2 changes.
This

massive changes are needed if it’s simply more of the same again

Watched the goals from first half last week.

Horrendous kick from Guthrie and poor attempt to recover from Henderson.

Lovely goal from Robbie Gray, not much we could do.

Horrible dump kick from Kolo to Alir leading to turnover and goal

Horrible Blicavs kick to Simpson and poor kick from Simpson to Alir.

Shocking Danger cross field kick and dropped chest mark from Henderson.

Another poor flailing mark attempt from Henderson.

Two defenders flew under it and let ball out the back to Marshall.

Kolo fell over and let his man take a simple mark.

My initial view of game was we got smashed around the ball but the errors in back half were quite unbelievable in retrospect.

Tommy Stewart was a big loss….

We've had some pretty bad week 1 finals losses the past 4 years though, and each of them we bounced back strongly in the semi. Especially with Greene out, I expect the same here. With no Stewart and a series of midfielders badly out of form (Danger, Selwood, Guthrie, Menegola) who we needed to be firing my hopes weren't high for this finals series in general. However, we should still make the prelim and then would rightly go in as heavy underdogs against the Demons. We're probably around the 4th best team this year as we have been most years of late. There are no signs we've peaked at the right time in 2021 to do better than that, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings.
Exactly. We are one of the four best teams this season but there is no reason for us to think we must win it or we are a failure, as we are not the dominant team. The best thing is - we are still in it, and our best form could win it.

It lead to some very easy goals particularly to Motlop. That shouldn't happen again.

Lovely goal from Robbie Gray , not much we could do.
Bews lost him in traffic.

Agree with your post, the backline was horrendous. Not just the things you pointed out but far too timid with the ball, even by our own standards. Watch us bite off more 45 degree kicks this week. We will cost us a couple of goals but it’s the only way to ensure we aren’t too predictable with the switch in D50.

You can't control everything in a game of Football, but the bolded were all simple, uncontested errors that lead to Port Adelaide goals. All from times when the game was on our terms and we simply handed them the football back. Port's ball movement and ability to work through our on ball pressure was excellent, but Port's pressure on us was massively overrated.

As it always does, the pressure of the moment overwhelmed us.

So abysmal. Surely lightning can't strike twice to all those players at the same time?
Well it sort of has, given the giant hole this personnel fell into against the Dees.
Tuohey will help. Will be won in the midfield, and hopefully we'll starve them.
Worst, viewers will be walking on glass, can't trust us not to blow a comfy lead.
