He deserves it.

Think how satisfying it would be to watch Juddas battle through next year in a bottom 4 side. He'd get triple-teamed every week and get the living suitcases belted out of him. There'd be no-one else to draw a tag. No-one to block for him. No-one to protect him.

It would send a powerful message: if a player walks and nominates one club, this is what happens to you. I wonder how Paul Connors would like that.

There would be the added bonus of shafting Collingwood and watching them gnash their teeth over missing another gun player because they were too pig-headed to offer a decent trade.

Also, I don't think we would have to lose Juddas to Richmond for nothing. We have a ready-made Veale deal already in the works.

If Juddas' chosen club has offered us nothing decent by the fourth day of trade week, we send Mitch Morton to Richmond for picks 2 and 17 (and maybe a player) and we make sure Juddas ends up in the PSD.

Send Juddas to Richmond.

I'd rather focus on West Coast being succesful next season than watching Judd suffer
You can focus on whatever you like. It won't make any difference to our fortunes.

But in the meantime, we have an enormous trade to broker and I don't want to see us get shafted.

Your both right

This is a very important deal that depending on draft picks will have affect the next 10 years of the club.

While my main priority is that WCE hae a successful 2008, it is also important that we get something out of the judd deal.

And if judd gets shafted in the process at richmond then its only a bonus

if i'm reading this correctly i don't think we're gonna get 2 & 17 for morton... that's better than what we might end up with for judd!

We'll get 2 & 17 for Morton AND Judd, seeing as we'll be sending Judd into the PSD as a result of the trade.

We could do better than that trading with Collingwood or Carlton, but I think Gunnar's main aim is that it'll screw Judd over.

I'm sure that, unlike some posters, the team will put common sense ahead of their personal feelings towards Judd's actions and get the best deal for the team.

If the threat isn't there, we are primed to get shafted.

If Chris Judd says 'I only want to play for Collingwood' and they offer say pick 13 + Leon Davis for example, we would be stupid to accept it. We want top 5 picks and quality coming in, not mediocre players.

Draft picks 2 and 17 is better deal than 13 and Leon Davis, even if it includes the loss of Morton, who hasn't exactly set the world on fire. The overhanging PSD threat would put the ball firmly back in Judd and Collingwood's court to offer something more realistic.

other thing to consider is that West Coast won't want to give a club that is now in premiership contention a real shot at it

at this stage Richmond and Carlton are not a threat to Eagles, but Collingwood are

West Coast won't be keen on making Collingwood even better

Pat Smith made a good point in the Australian saying if alls Judd wants to do is live in Melbourne, then any club in victoria should be good enough

I reckon Judd will nominate pies as his #1 choice, but will end up at Carlton and Eagles will get pick 3 plus some old posters of Kouta with his shirt off

Interesting one, one one hand I dont wanan be shafted by clubs like Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon. On the other I believe we need to get at least something for one of the best pplayers in the comp, hopefully low draft picks.

Another thing, why would Richmond trade us their pick 2 and 18 just to get Judd in the PSD if his chosen club doesnt offer us anything? Wouldnt they just sit back and let him fall through and keep Pick 2 and 18??

judd has the upper hand in this deal tho, cause if he picks melbourne collingwood or essendon, and says deal with one of them, obviously west coast might not be able to work something out, so judd can just say, well stuff ya ill go in the draft and go to carlton and WC will get nothing. I dont think its fair that so many west coast supporters are calling judd "juddas" after hes given ur club so much, should matter losing him to much anyway, you guys have priddas who is young and gonna be a fantastic player for many years to come.

RE: The Veale Deal

I'm betting that 2 and 17 would be our best trade. Carlton look like they will only give us 3 and 20 (and a mediocre player). We don't need to get a mediocre player when many are talking about promoting C.Jones, McNamamara and Spaandeman to the main lust - we just don't have room on the list. Also, I don't think we will get better than a 3rd round pick for Morton so to add him in to get it over the line is not a great loss.

From what I understand Richmond have the salary cap for Judd but are trying to save bucks and want to go for a youth policy. Sp whatever price Judd puts on his head to scare off potential clubs can be covered.

As Nisbett or Worsfold said - we will try and do the best for Chris Judd but we are running a business.

You guys are F...n ridiculous. As if we would give you thomas or pendlebury for Chris judd. It's like giving up a gun at 20 for someone who has already achieved the ultimate and he has served you well, after all,he is a victorian he has served your side admirably so the guy wants to go home.Collingwood need a gun ,midfilder you guys need a big forward. So our pick 14 and say a josh fraser would more than ample trade. If not carlton can have him we'll recuite a good midfelder or two next year and we;ll win the flag in the next 2 years anyway. What let us down this year was our rucks otherwise we would be playing port this week.F...k you guys are so jealous, really it's not like he is still under contract,he has finished his tenure with the eagles and wants to come home.I really hope he goes into the draft and goes to carlton and you guys get zip for him.
Chris judd owes the eagles nothing....he has done his time there.
And collingwood will continue on our merry way and stick to our youth policy and pick up a few more midfielders next year and get another ruckman and we will be ready to kill for the premiership in 2008/2009.

Here here, its lame that supporters can backstab a player from their club who has given them so much. Tis funny they would have been cheering for him earilier in the season. Show some respect

Wont be a Veale deal. Richmond ahve pick 1, if they want Judd and we are worried about being shafted by other clubs they wont have/need/want to trade away draft picks when they can get him for nothing.

Think the Tigers have been looking at their future with no Judd in mind. So dont think they will trade anything for him when he could go into the PSD for free.

This aint bad logic, providing Richmond go for it. I dont want Tambling though

How would Collingwood get shafted if this eventuated? (And it's not certain that the Pies are Judd's preferred desination anyway.) Collingwood would be no worse off than when they started. You can't lose a player you never had.

Why do you pies supporters keep assuming he would go past the first round in the draft and come to carlton?? Have you been reading? Richmond have pick one!
You must still have sour grapes bout Stevens, no one wants to deal with your club. Its always the same deal, you offer nothing for the best and cry when a deal falls through!
Good optimisim though, without the likes of clement, liccuria, buckley, wakelin, burns and rocca, 2009 might be a bit quieter than you'd planned.

Eagles jealous of the pies??? which team needs "a few more midfielders next year and get another ruckman"??
