The Tallarook Cricket Club lost a great servant to the club yesterday. Tommy Breen died peacefully at the Seymour Memorial Hospital. Our best wishes go out to his family. He will be sorely missed!!

na not you doona. i seen him umpire the Seymour broadford A grade game at the start of the season. he was terrible
I think he's referring to Peter Keane. Think he's only new to umpiring ranks and was probably slotted into A Grade a little bit before his time.

Do many other clubs have a Trip Away?

My first trip away was to Albury in 1994, and I reckon Ive missed 1 trip since. The BCC went to Albury annually for well over a decade before we were booted out of our hotel one night after a fire was lit in about 2001. Next year when we tried to book our name was mud and battled to get it in anywhere.

Since then we've been a couple of times to Ballarat, Adelaide, Geelong, last year we went on a camping trip to Sale to co-incide with the SMCA grand final. This year the boys are back to Geelong I think.

yeah s.ralph made 75ish from the hill and fishy woulda made 40-50 odd um...not to sure who took wickets but yeah they were the main load of runs

Shane Ralph finished on 71 and Fishy ended up with 41, i feel bad for seymour, Rodney semmens took his first wicket... EVER, good on ya rocket!! :thumbsu:

havent experienced a trip away yet with the mighty maroons, but heard plenty of stories to have me raring to go..

Come on Rishy, don't try and sully our name like that.
All Seymour and Avenel people know that Rocket's first ever wicket was some-time A Grader LUKE URQHART.

Fellas gotta a feeling Chippa(Rob Douglas) might go mad with the willow this week. Man seems to make a special Telegraph appearence in 3 week gaps so think he might be due - is it a definite that Luke Bennett did not make the trip down there if so that means the boys will be without gun bowlers S. Allum(knee) M Mc Gregor & Bennett himself.

The Maroons will be hoping to knock him early with Grack & Nath inform as of late & Chris Mulraney is an ever consistent fast outside the off peg bowlers.

Just hope the boys get him early as he may reack havoc.

I may be wrong, but didn't Bobby Douglas fail to get past 10 post Christmas last season?
Hopefully, for the sake of the Maroons depleted bowling attack, the post-Christmas blues strike again this week.

Who did he get out?

Not to sure who the unlucky victim was,but it wasn't me thank CHRIST!!!. He put in a big effort in the Field and gave his Fielding thigh pad a work out too, I gently pushed one in to a gap through cover, Rocket headed at a right angle to cut it off(A for Effort) has gone for a huge dive(A for Execution) slid along the ground only to be about 5m short of the path the ball was taking(F for Judgment) ended up getting 3 runs for it Cracking up laughing the whole time:D

yeah, im pretty sure i recall a one Luke Urqhuart near crying ;) as he walked off the ground as Rodney 'Rocket' Semmens bowled him out for a golden duck.. and ive only seen Luke play once since that game..

The rook came away with a solid win on Saturday against Yea in A Grade.

We had the in trouble at 7/138, chasing our 244 from last week, but they put about 75 for the 8th weicket to have us in troubel, but we wrapped up the last 3 wickets fairly quickly after that to win by about 20 runs.

Wickets were shared around. Nicholls get 50 odd for Yea.

Broadford got outa trouble at home against Seymour. Chasing 175 Broady resumed at 1/65, and were looking shaky at 6/112 before some handy batting by the youngsters got em to 240.

Jimmy Ingham shrugged off plenty of the verbal stuff to score 53 on debut, Mitch Collier got 37 and Tyrell Dunne 25.

Wandered into the Terminus late on Satdy evening too witness a wide variety of SDCA stars past and present, including Eastern Hill premiership player Shannon Bean.

My first visit in 4 years and surprising nothing had changed!!!

Was Chad Bonney in there sporting the Whites.

Tommy Stevens debut into the Terminus was short lived.
Bouncers did not take a liking to him.

Aside from the Eastern Hill/Rook game I overlooked early this season, saturdays game at Yea was probably the best I have been part of.

Best attitude from both sides (no sledgin)
Best dressed in that both fielding sides wore club or wide brim hats (something thats important) with I reckon only Ash Walsh playing with his shirt untucked.
Best wicket Yea has produced, bit in it for both bat and ball.
Best arvo tea Yea had produced (gone up a few places in my eyes :thumbsu: )

Some great cricket with Joey getting 100, Nicho taking 3 on day one, then Lachie Atkins looking good with 40, Nicho finally get amongst them (3 lives), and Irving (2 wkts - 4 dropped catches), and Dundon 3/40 from 16 performing well too. Good standard with the batsmen earning every run

Unfortunately i missed a caught behind (again), but Im adament in my crusade to give the benefit of any doubt to the batsmen unlike years gone by where at tiems a weight of an appeal has gotten wickets .

i did see one tommy stevens on saturday nite after copping a hiding on fridy nite and yes.. he was still drinking folks.. using a straw to drink his cruisers.. but then went home!! seemed as sober as a judge and it was only 12!! was very shocked.. young jimmy ingham hit a handy 50 on satdy to probably lead broady to victory.. can hit a ball very hard, beautiful judgement and timing, rarely talks.. blocks out everything and just gets on with it.. impressed when heard it was his first A grade knock and he is only 14!!

hey joshy watson...ur a gun ill talk you up if no1 else will...hope your keeper in the A grade....well if not you should be.....good but of talent there dont wanna waste it....
