We'd love an Under 19s team. And we continue to aspire to have one. We have some practical difficulties in that area around demographics and competition from Amateur clubs that make it a challenge. One of the best ways we can meet that challenge is to continue to develop a club that inspires young local men to play for it.

How is this any different to other clubs? Melbourne is a football saturated region all over so as a club you do need to work hard to attract and retain.

If you gave any 18 year old the option of playing for SKOBS OR EM close too 100% would go with SKOBS. EM are in the unfortunate position of having over achieving juniors and under achieving seniors

Thoughts? Definitely thought more division 1 teams would be jumping for an opportunity to get more match practice

A little embarrassing for the league, obviously a competition created for clubs with better youth to play against some bigger bodies with less skill
It doesn't help that it seems to have been slapped together as almost an afterthought by the league about a month ago.
Most sides will have practice matches already locked in by that stage, and won't want their players to then have another 4 opportunities to get injured.

Exactly, bentleigh can tale the risk because they had too many players last year they'll be putting everyone through but then you have dande who have about 3 players!!

Seems to be an ill-conceived idea made up on the run. At such short notice and with practice games already locked in for most clubs what’s the point? Seems that all bar one Div 1 club share that view.

I'm going to covering div1 for the local newspaper.
Can you guys let me know when any practice games are on and location, just so I can start to get to know the teams and players. Cheers

Premiers Dingley V EM GF with Dingley getting up narrowly
Top5 Dingley, EM, Mordy, StKC, Bentleigh (Final 5 in a 10 team comp is ridiculous. Should be final 4 IMO)
Relegation Clayton. Sadly I cant see them winning a game.
Leading goals Farmer
League BNF Mullett
Best young player ???

Picked up a couple from Banyule. James Black looks a player. A couple from South Belgrave. And if my sources are correct a 2m giant ruckman from GVFL (not confirmed)
