Traded Shai Bolton, pick 14 & F3 (Rich) traded to Fremantle for picks 10, 11 & 18

This is a very good deal for the Tigers for two reasons:
1 - Bolton is a terrible player to have on a rebuilding sides list
2 - look at what Port got for Houston. Tigers are being well compensated

This purely smells of Longmuir going all in because his job is on the line. And when a coach goes we know other staff do as well.

Really poor from Fremantle and with the picks WCE have they’ll be in the box seat for Warner
You know nothing about how trades work

Walls does the trading, not Longmuir

If Chad picks Freo then he comes to Freo, look at Baker yesterday

All things considered, not a bad deal. Would have liked to keep 11 but whatever, hopefully pick up a decent kid at 14 and then have a crack at Warner/Kozzy next year

The real question is, does Blaisee think this is a top 5 trades of all time
Heh heh. Not even close.

Reckon you might give 11 for North's f1
Dunno about that.

Probably slight overs
It's unders.

Richmond holds the equivalent of pick 1,2,3,4 and 13 now in this draft.

I reckon you flip one for next year to the highest bidder, probably on draft night but maybe before if North do F1 for 11 in a straight swap
We'll hopefully trade 2 of them for Norf's pick 2.

Glad the deals done and the shit throwing from both sets of fans is finished. Wallsy and Blair played fair the entire time by all reports both trying to get the best deal for their own team. I think they both accomplished that with a solid compromise.

You will absolutely love Bolton Freo fans. Completely disagree with anyone calling him overrated. He is a rare player. Only Rankine is alike but Shai has been doing it for longer. Love him as much as we do ❤️

Glad they burnt picks for next year but you do realise from next year you can trade TWO years of future picks not one. New rules come in

I know you’re just trolling but this would be a very poor bit of reasoning if you were serious

Freo’s window is opening

They need talent now

They also need talent that is available and wants to join them

In 12 months time Warner may have resigned with the Swans, or may nominate WCE

Plus there is nothing wrong with Longmuir going flat out for success right now – his job is to deliver success to Freo so that’s exactly what he should be prioritising

If Warner nominates Freo in 12 months time find the capital for him then but it is still a big if

DETAILS OF BOLTON CONTRACT EMERGES

Jon Ralph

Shai Bolton will secure a five-season deal to play at Fremantle under a new contract that will add an extra season to his existing contract.
Bolton was tied to the Tigers until 2028 on a deal that could reap as much as $1.2 million a season for the 25-year-old, but he will get a deal through to 2029.
Richmond will lose the wage of Daniel Rioli, who was only paid about $600,000 this year despite his brilliant Norm Smith Medal form.
The club will also lose Liam Baker’s salary so in the space of 48 hours will lose as much as $2.5 million in salary cap obligations.

It will give the Tigers a chance to bank that room or pay some of their players on front-ended deals to create space for later seasons and free agency acquisitions.
Dustin Martin is also coming off a $1.3 million-per-season deal but some of those savings will already have been absorbed in contracts for players like Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper.
The Tigers have one more season of a back-ended deal that will pay Tom Lynch $1.5 million next year so will have as much cap space as anyone in the competition in coming years.

Whilst I'd still prefer to keep Shai, it was an acceptable deal for the Tigers.

Freo will love Bolton, he's exactly what you need and its not overs in my eyes. Compare him to pretty much any other small forward and he whacks them all, see his 2022 form as a small forward in a good team (84 shots at goal I think it was, almost 4 per game), that what Freo are buying, which is gold for their forward line.

A further maturing Treacy and Amiss, with a gun like Shai at their feet will be gold IMO.

I'm certainly going to miss not seeing him buzz around for us when I'm at the games next year, but a new chapter is starting for the RFC.

Take care of him, but please keep him to 99 max games. Thanks, we want his kids :D

Right on target if you ask me

Depends when the bids come in this year , and where we finish next year, and all the academy picks next year, father sons ect

But I reckon yea, it will end up Pick 2, close to pick 3, depends, so thanks for bringing this up

I guess I was right, thanks for bending over by the way

There is a lot of talent in this draft.

Not many first year players come in and play a big first season so most will play VFL early on. We will possibly keep a couple of players who are line ball delisting but can play adequately, Dow/Cumberland. However, these are very high draft pics, so are more advanced than your usual draft pics, so they tend to adapt a bit quicker than speculative pics further down the order. We will have Lynch and Gibcus back with some luck, so that will help offset experience issue.

But we are odds on for the spoon.

Think we've seen rebuilds as drastic as this fail because of what I said previously, losing becomes the habit and it becomes a hard habit to break. I do wonder if they get involved with some clubs/players that might be wiling to move whilst taking maybe x3 top 10 players in the draft. Might still finish last whilst being competitive.

Assuming we active on draft night and the time leading up to it, we can absolutely bank some picks next year that may come in handy for a Freo or Eagles to obtain what they need for their Warner offers. Blair has gotten some excellent deals done and I don't feel he's gone anywhere near the scorched earth/hard to trade with position of a Mackie or Dildoro. We've had pretty good dealings with both the WA teams and hold so much currency I imagine it's actually a greater importance now for them rather than us to keep the trading relationship positive.

Sucks to lose some really good players but we finished bottom with them all in the side anyway and a few guys next year will get their shot.

Which charity should Blaisee donate the $250 to? Does Richmond have a favourite charity the same way Fremantle supports the starlight foundation?

Last time I lost a bet:

Surprised. Not sure how we're going to meet the minimum cap spend next season with over $6mill going out of the cap this off season and nothing significant coming in.

I think in this next little period of ours, the blowtorch moves 100% onto the coaches rather than the players. Expectations on field will be to be competitive with zero "Sure win" games for us next year. If a player fumbles or misses at a crucial time, there will be a greater patience on them developing which is the job of the coaching team. If there's no game plan and no one looks like taking steps forward, the axe will come for the Ooze man.

Agreed lots of hard rebuilds fail and culture of losing gets in there. But if you look at some clubs that have had stints down the bottom line Dees or Blues, there are lots of year on year failures with drafting players in the first round that set them back for sure. Guys like Boekhurt, Lochie O'Brien, SPP, Dow, Toumpas, Scully, Trengove (not talent issues but both did not have the career intended at Dees), Lucas Cook (biggest bust in an absolutely bumper first round, did not play a game).

Difference with us is that statistically this year we almost can't miss. Compare McKay and Curnow picks within the top 15 picks of one draft vs Ben Miller for us who was pick 63 in 2017 and has taken years and years to become an AFL standard player. We aren't rebuilding with one first rounder, one second rounder and one third rounder year on year. We are getting so many goes at it in a highly rated even draft.
