You guys should be extremely happy, you had so much draft capital to be able to pay the equivalent of pick 4 without having to finish bottom 4. I actually think this is a win-win result. He's a fantastic player but where Richmond are at currently, the league will not see the best of Shai. He could legit be the difference to get you guys into the finals and from there, anything could happen. I think you paid a fair price and we accepted a fair price.

Keeping 12 to get an untried 18 year old and missing Bolton. nah. Allan would be playing at Peel next year. Freo already have difficulty getting Erasmus into the team. Freo don't need a HB/mid..........they need a goal kicking small forward.

This year we finished last, and our 3rd round pick was Pick 43 worth 378 points

Next year even if we finish last that same pick will worth 200 points less due to the change in points, so in effect worth Pick 56 not 43

I said somewhere between Pick 2 and 3 and that's where it will, full price for a bona fide superstar

I've done a calc including bids as you so graciously wanted them included (Ashcroft, Lombard, Kako)

I even left out the future 3rd, just to help your case! (It will be worth points but I'm doing you a solid)


Looks like it still falls at pick 4 and nowhere near the top 5 of all time

Shai is at his best roaming the midfield and slotting forward to kick goals. One of the best clearance players in the comp. Will add a perfect mix to Freo and legitimately think he will change their flag chances.

but this time , West coast bid on Kakko, Marshall and Lombard at pick 13

So its 11,12,21 for 18 even, if you throw in third round next year, equiv = Pick 3.


Even you judge it on what has been paid

10+11+18 for 14+ F3 ( F3 was 43 this year worth, Pick 57 next year)

Maths is not your strong point

Still Pick 3, So you paid, equivalent to this year Pick 3

suit yourself, knock yourself out on the calculator wont change the fact that you bent over and paid Pick3

They've paid a price, but Bolton could be a great fit for Freo.
He'll benefit from being in a side that had all the pieces to be pushing deep into the top 8 and no disrepect to the Tigers, but at least in the next couple of years, his talent would have gone to waste a little
All depends a bit on whether he's going to be selective in his efforts or more switched on than he was last year, didn't give a heap.

I think best 22 and fringe is different. Bolton is clearly best 22 but the price paid seems crazy. Unless Freo really didnt see anyone thry had to have in the draft.

Richmond are going to go all Borg on the entire 2024 draft.
