He was unconscious for 4.5 minutes!!! Apparently all he has to do according to Grant Thomas is 'put a square block in a square hole' and he's fit to play.. This better not be the only measurements clubs have or AFL has some serious problems internally!!!

For me, Maguire shouldnt play... we are playing the Pies, and if he gets knocked out again this week... Christ.. who knows what it could do to the rest of his life.. His brain needs a weeks break from being shook up, but then again who am I?

Thomo was being slightly tongue in cheek with the square block square hole comment.

Apparently they have a test that all the players perform when in a normal state and they re-do this test during the week after a heavy knock and this gives an idea of how badly affected the player is.

You would have to speak to someone with a more technical knowledge on it, but from what I have read it is fairly widely accepted as the best measurement of a players (for lack of better choice of words) 'mental fitness'.

I do agree with you though, I would not risk him if there was any doubt at all.

If he plays this week, he is one tough SOB, which I think goes with the territory from the 'Bool boys.

Just an FYI, Chris Hyde has had scans done and it's been reported he's got a hairline fracture of the skull and will miss 2-3, will then play in a head guard for his first couple back similar to Dunstall.

hairline fracture in the skull  ouch!! bloody ouch!!!

geez, if a doctor told me that i had damaged my skull in any way i would freak out!!!! Good luck to the kid in his recovery!!! gosh, the price you pay for not taking your eyes of the ball!

Exactly. We'll leave that to the medical staff.

Thomo and the rest of the football department rate him as highly as the rest of us do so they won't play him unless there is no risk.

There seems to be a parody here Sainter... your name states your club I'm believing (Stkilda) yet your club preference is neutral...?? Go figure.
