"Adelaide Oval will host Showdown 48 in Round 2 if given a green light by the AFL after a dramatic change in South Australian government training regulations."

“I have requested that the AFL consider a Showdown when the season resumes,” Mr Marshall told The Advertiser.

The 2 Adelaide teams have been given permission for contact training in SA from Monday, so if the AFL makes the Showdown a round 2 fixture, it should be at Adelaide Oval before the 2 teams then emigrate to the Gold Coast.

Marshall is obviously copping heat ....the two clubs should tell him to get ****ed .....not as if there'll be crowds, so the location doesn't matter

Marshall shouldn't get to choose when, where & how the SA based teams operate ....and change his opinion based on political feedback

WTF

This is a good thing. It allows our players to stay as long as possible in SA. Why would the SA teams tell him to get ****ed?

Unlike your leaders, our people seem to be acting on scientific and health feedback.

Not quite sure what you're complaining about here, our team gets a less disrupted start to the season.

Everyone's jumping for joy about one game .....we should have been allowed to fly in fly out and have many more than one game at Adelaide Oval

Players could have spent even more time with family than this mere morsel allows ......the players would fly out, no other people on the plane, play the game, and immediately get back on the plane, back to SA

The risk was infinitesimal .....dumb decision by the SA Govt ......now you want to give him a pat on the back :D

Can't see 1st game here happening. Surprised we have been 'allowed' to stay and not go to hub.

If we have a game here, what happens with round 3? Travel to Vic then have to quarantine after? Delay the season for 2 weeks?

Can't see the practicable alternative to the northern hub.

They play the game here and then they don't have to isolate in Vic/Qld. That's the whole point of why SA and WA teams are relocating

I think you'll find that most South Aussies are pretty comfortable with the decision and outcomes in our state.

By the way, who do you want to check baggage, run security, fly the ****ing plane? Nigel?🤪

Who's going to check the baggage & security of teams flying up & down the east coast ......if the Govt could get votes from this, they would make it happen

Why do you think the back pedaling by Marshall ....because he's a good guy, and this was a decision not impacted by politics .......hang-on the tooth fairy is knocking at the door

Fairly comfortable our recent case history has far more to do with it. All the politicking seems to be happening on the east coast. Let's see how it plays out :)

Your case history favored the Crows and Port using Adelaide as a fly-in / fly-out base ....moreso than the vics, who have now seen 12 McDonalds closed and a dreadful Meat Manufacture outbreak

But the numbers .... 6-8 cases a day in Vic, is still 0.00000133% probability of infection in Vic

There was minimal risk to Sth Australians ......it was a dumb decision by the Govt full stop, motivated by politics

Nah, our per capita testing has been far greater and earlier than Vic. You guys have only ramped it up in the last fortnight, so the chances of unidentified cases over there is still high. Our case history actually favoured an SA hub, along with WA and NT, but we couldnt have Patty away from Moggs for more than 5 minutes, could we? ;)

If that were true ....there should have been no issue flying in/out

The cost of 12 teams or thereabouts hubbing in SA was too great .....more cost efficient to have 2 teams go to Vic

WA teams could've come to SA .....but train in an Adelaide Winter v Brisbane Sunshine ...I know where I'd rather be

feenix67 so if the SA Govt actually looked ahead .....the SA Teams couldn't have played a showdown and then fly out & back from the 18th of June ......but you guys can go to gyms, which are the biggest hotspots for any disease ....Cinemas, restaurants .....gee those smorgasboard outlets look mighty safe, no-one would dare cough on any food
