Showdown at Adelaide Oval?

Then tell your Nanna not to catch a train .....no hypocrisy here in arguments against the Crows FOFO .....of course not, it's all political

Apparently more chance of catching it at the gym ;)

Seriously though, public transport is a disaster and needs to have something done about it.

Other places are giving free transport at certain times, public money to buy bikes and ride to work, etc. The Government has dropped the ball here - not a surprise the responsible minister is Mr Stephan ($37m for no right turn) Knoll

They play the game here and then they don't have to isolate in Vic/Qld. That's the whole point of why SA and WA teams are relocating
I get that for the first game, but then what?

Unless things change, interstate teams can't play here the following week, and we haven't quarantined in a hub, so where/how do we play the following week?

There is a vague plan for same-day travel, no public contact, chartered flights etc, but no actual govt approval for travelling sports teams yet.

My understanding was that we were taking the hit with travel and quarantine now so we could play a series of games against multiple teams without travel.

Hmmm, you're arguing that the borders should be opened now.

Shows a picture of a metro train within Adelaide that has had 1 positive test in the last month and no active cases.

Seems a legit argument......

IF you are arguing the SA restrictions should be eased quicker and further than 100% agree with you but we need those borders closed to keep the cesspool that is Victoria where it belongs.

Until you guys get your shit together - you have only just got your testing sorted out, was at abysmal levels for the first 2 months the border stays closed, I reckon it will be mid July at the earliest.

Exactly, the single most effective reason we are beating this thing was the border closures, both Federal and State. And should be the absolutely last restriction removed. Esp from a region that doesn't have it under control.

WOW, way to swap sides of an argument to fit your political views.

It is definitely something that needs to be addressed just in case the plague crosses the border, with say a physio from Port Adelaide, who picked it up at Macc's across the road from Docklands on his way home.

I'd rather live in the state whose senior health officers did their job and eliminated community transmissions, than the one whose senior health officers are more interested in posting about Captain Cook and have the virus rampant in their community.

We should give SA Health naming rights to the Showdown Shutdown, with Nicola Spurrier to present the Shutdown Medal (from a safe distance).

Actually, you are about 5 times more likely to catch COVID-19 (1:1.5m) than winning lotto (1:8m)...but there is some actual potential gain from Lotto, so the investment is a better one

WW know how to party.gif

Talk bout spoiling the impact of my story with facts :p

You guys just continue to make the wrong call on most things ......the Borders need to be open to get people back into work, as all tourism will be inbound within Australia

But yeah you guys keep your borders closed .....your economy doesn't need revenue or jobs

Is there anything more irrelevant than a Labor opposition at the moment?
Actually in all this Covid, I don't see any party differences to their approach around the country .....but watch the politics fly once this is over and the enormity of the impact on the economy by state is revealed

Queensland has an election coming up. Think they're already starting to play games (such as the bid for Virgin).

Whats happening is there's pressure being put on by each states actions ....Andrews was deadset not going to open schools ....but NSW opened, and Andrews faced media pressure as to why he was the stickout

The same will happen in Sth Aust as decisions now are economic v health .....at some point economic decisions have to be made and Sth Aust is the last state that should be holding out

It's such a shame that a government values health first and foremost.
If you've had no cases for 7-8 days ....of course you must think about jobs and getting everyone's mental health back on track .....you will not eradicate CoVid

Maybe, maybe not. SARS-1 was deadlier (on a much smaller scale) and then just disappeared, no-one knows how or why or where it went.
Covid-19 (SARS-2) might surprise us one day and conveniently disappear too. Here's hoping.

All this hoo ha about the AFL and limited training and hubs etc. I am an expat in Thailand where everyone wears a mask and buses and train passenger numbers are controlled well and you can't sit next to anyone. I think a similar culture in Oz will be far more effective (as it seems to be here) than these AFL issues where then risk of public transmission compared to what people are doing in supermarkets, trains etc. is incomparable.
