Fractured ribs in a motorbike accident, not too bad.

Broke two in another incident with one puncturing my right lung.

If gov is spending a second night in hospital it's quite serious and more likely a 6 week injury and reduced fitness. With the punctured lung I was back running in 4 weeks and back on full duties in the military with a pack after 6.

(mind you in the second I was 18 and as aerobically fit beforehand as all bar the best runners in the AFL unless you can make a list of guys who can run 2.4km's in 7 minutes or under)

Has anyone broken ribs high up on the rib cage ? You can't breathe , laugh , cough even talking hurts. Admittedly mine was from some form of entertainment other than footy, but yeah , wrap him in cotton wool. Btw, our fitness staff need the arse before any player.
Orgy mishap on whore island?

Put a line through him for the season. Nasty nasty injury.

Not a bad option as it will guarantee more game time to the likes of Bazzo and Edwards. I’ve see enough of Rotham as a defender.
I'd be happy with this. It looks significant and we need games in Edwards, Hough and Bazzo.

And we somehow have to find a spot across half back to give Culley a game. Otherwise what was the point of drafting him. A #1 mid season draft pick should be good enough to get a game with the worst team in the competition.

He's essentially a mid year rookie draft pick who has now played 2 senior games against men. He needs more time and not to listen to stupid ****ing calls by trew and others for handballs and play as though he is the man.

I think he's a little more than that. He's more an overlooked for various reasons who probably (all things being normal, a lot wasn't) would have been drafted mid who has blossomed in the intervening period.

And yes, he should play (and be encouraged to play) like he's the man.

Regardless, we drafted him because of our shirtsville midfield who are slow and cannot apply any defensive pressure and cant get the ball to apply any offensive pressure either. Yes, he's only played twice against men and I don't expect him to be the saviour, but...
we grabbed him to fill an urgent need. We've played him for two WAFL games and his improvement from game 1 to 2 showed why we grabbed him. I can go another or even two WAFL games but if he continues to perform solidly, we need to play him for a run of AFL games. Maybe not every game, but most if he shows he's up for it.

He's 19. He wasn't picked to fill an urgent need but rather be a long term solution.

I reckon he'll play 2-3 more WAFL games and potentially debut.

I would call our midfield an urgent need. It's the slowest in the competition and is the worst or second worst (hello Norf) in things like tackling, generating inside 50s and applying offensive or defensive pressure.
No midfield is worse at being able to prevent opposition moving the ball from half back through the midfield at pace.

We have too many one paced, similar style mids. Where we used to have 'point of difference' mids that has been largely lost.

Yeo, the closest thing to a bull we have has hardly played for 2 years. And from what we've seen is slower than he was, unable to break lines the way he could and is reaching the age where we can safely say the best is behind us.
Shuey is the closest thing we've had to a game breaker over the past decade. But he is now injury prone and hasn't lost a yard of pace, he's lost 3 or 4 yards of pace. He's not so much come back to the pack as watched the pack sail past. Again, age suggests we won't see much mid dominance and unless he can generate some half forward output, days are numbered.
Sheed is not quick. Never has been. More a high possession, limited impact type. Poor mans Priddis.
Kelly is the closest thing to an 'A' grader we currently have. But if I'm honest he's a 'A' grader in a top midfield and a 'B' mid when surrounded by 'C' graders.
Redden is a solid performer who gives all he has. But he'll never be a Judd or Cousins or Bont or anything like a game breaker. Every team and midfield needs a Redden, but as 4th or 5th mid. Pace? what pace?
And then we have a bunch of WAFL top ups. Some who might make it as post Redden 5th mid types, but none look like the type to build a future on. Generally slow.

Every mid we pick up we are picking up to fill an urgent need. And that urgent need is called our midfield.
We need pace. We need tackling. We need enthusiasm. Urgently.

Poor bugger, he's had a shocking run with injury over the last three years. Part of that was his conditioning, but he was one of the few that appeared to be in great shape this year. Was playing at AA level to start the season and now this.

We have had a shocking run of luck with injuries to key players (Yeo, Nic Nat, Gov), it's easy to forget how that is a big factor toward us being dead last as well.

Let's hope we get a good run in the offseason and can hit 2023 hard.
