Yeah that was a bit disappointing - aground 40K+ ground would suit us better and would be regularly sold out.

If it were to go ahead, I wonder where the cats would end up playing during the WC year. With 10 clubs all wanting to use the only available ground - etihad, there is going to be to much pressure on that ground. At least one match per round will have to be shifted elsewhere, out of Victoria.

I think some teams will do some drastic things (with big dollars thrown at them by the AFL i might add) like play alot of their games at NZ, like the Hawks do at Tassie.

I would not be surprised if by that point some regional grounds were dressed up for occasional games, either in the premiership season or NAB Cup. I'm thinking of places like Ballarat and Albury which already have decent grounds and it would probably would be easy enough to throw up some grandstands and bring them up to 20,000-25,000 capacity for occasional games, even before the World Cup.

Yep! Agree that when greed and corruption is in play all bets are off. But don't undersell yourself. I was with two soccer tragics last night, one is a junior coach and the other never misses a Victory home game. Both confidently predicted it was the Yanks or us. Furthermore, they reckoned a country with not many more than 1 mil population with temps up to 45c when the cup would be played had no chance of getting the nod. Only death and taxes are sure things as the saying goes.

Qatar has no history of terrorism and is often involved diplomatically with the US and once even Isreal. It is the poor Arab nations that have terrorism (Yeman) not the rich ones.
