SNFL Div 3 discussion 2023

weekends takes & whispers .

Endeavour - flying

Frankston - was it a cheap shot ?

CPL - players to come and maybe win it?

Ashwood - serious injury after serious injury (2s been playing with less than 22)

Lyndhurst - huge win

Heatherton - with the rest of the players getting on the Park a lot better than first though.

Narre south - couldn’t finish bottom could they? And why is there decent blokes in the twos not helping avoid relegation?

Clayton - can they bounce back from this ?
Obviously someone from Narre South making a comment like that, who's playing twos that should be in the ones?

Someone said the other day that the MPNFL had formed a new board and their first point to consider was forming a Third Division. Anyone know if that is the case? They have clubs that stretch from Edithvale across to Devon Meadows and down to Sorrento which provides quite a lot of overlap with the SFNL. I wonder what Clubs the MPNFL are considering as possibilities for their Third Division and whether any of the current SFNL Clubs would be considering a move there? Anyone have any ideas?

Heard narre are keen on that over joining SFNL. Not sure they’d get voted in though

Guess you could add Skye and Chelsea Heights to that list. Though Third Division might not be where they slot in?

Chelsea heights and Mordi could go Div 2 couldn’t see any other teams getting close to teams like Edi-asp, Devon and karingal

Clubs don’t get a vote. If the board wants them, they are in.

Is that right? The Board can just make the call? Thought Clubs would have a large say and new teams might need a certain percentage of clubs in favour to get in! Moving it to a Board takes the tribal bit out of it allowing for a more strategic approach!

That’s the case in SFNL. They took voting rights off the clubs years ago without really advertising that had done so.
That hasn’t been the case in EFNL and from memory the MPNFL have always voted clubs in or out. That’s why Cranny didn’t get in. Have they changed their structure/ rules recently?

Strategic? You would think so but look at the absolute mess the league boundaries have become because there is no strategy in place. AFLVic have sat on their hands and done nothing to sort things out for years now. They’re a joke

From memory Frankston Dolphins applied a few years back to the MPNFL but got knocked back?
Will they apply again or won’t bother now?

From what I saw, Narre had some of their Under 19s kids playing seniors trying to get them some experience. They looked pretty good against Heatherton for 16/17 year olds too. Unsure who would be able to step up from the 2s besides maybe 1 or 2. But would those 1/2 players be better than whats already there?

I believe CPL, frankston and lyndhurst were the teams in div 4 that were approached a few years ago when they were thinking about a 3rd division in MPNFL. Skye might have been also, nothing came of it in the end though

You would definitely think Skye would be added with those 3 and South Mornington seem to be up and running as a Club. So maybe 5 there?? Possibly Chelsea Heights?

Wonder if this excites any of the SFNL Clubs that are geographically more aligned with the MPNFL to look to move....

MEDIA RELEASE – Wednesday 14 June 2023
CLUB EXPRESSION OF INTEREST– ADMISSION TO THE MPFNL
To whom it may concern,
The MPFNL Board is seeking expressions of interest from Clubs interested at participating in the MPFNL,
commencing the 2024 Season. This continues the process commenced pre Covid.
The League considers expansion to a third division as an integral step in the long-term sustainability of the
competition which currently encompasses the four local government areas of Mornington Peninsula Shire,
Frankston City Council, City of Casey & City of Kingston.
The criteria for entry previously agreed by the MPFNL Presidents are attached.
The Board will set up a FAQ section within the AFL South East website, which can allow questions to be raised and
answers shared with the broader football community.
Applications should be directed to board@mpfnl.com.au and received on or before 21 July 2023. They will then be
presented to the Presidents for final assessment and decision on entry.

Any idea what the criteria for entry is?
Doesn’t seem to be on their website.

Twite didn’t play yesterday. Was this due to the late shot that was floating around on social media?

Narre saints clearly having decent players in the twos looking by that result as well?

Off topic seen Devon yesterday and Frankston wanting to get to that comp still have a long long way to go without an extra division being included.
