Autopsy Snow bunnies beat the Hawks

Miles was in poor form, his missed shot from 30m around the body, his blocking Dylan Moores 5th goal was just dumb, he took a few poss and blundered them, was just not playing well.
And people are convinced round here that had he played over Duryea, we would have won Friday night...

Little improvement? He's a first year player ffs.

I must have been watching a different game as this kid has a huge upside - highly skilled, quick, good game sense and has a bit of mongrel.

Not sure where he’ll end up playing, however, will make it if he continues to improve at the rate he has this year.

Breust was targeted by the Dees and well held by Jetta and at various stages Harmes throughout the match.
So Harmes and Jetta were better that's good for old Breustie.
One more leave pass signed.

Our Goalkicking was such a huge disappointment in the finals, I think we were the most accurate team during the Home and Away season ?
Both Richmond and Melbourne have backlines that are very adept at defending deep bombed entries. Hence we had to lower the eyes and hit up shallower in our 50 to get shots. That impacts conversion no doubt.

How many goals did our two AA kick and how many chances did they have.
It was a huge let down when Breust kicks 0 not even a behind and had 1 tackle against the Dees.
Everyone bags Roughead yet he kicked the most goals in both finals.

Bruest and Burgoyne were both dead in front in the Richmond game.
Gunston was running into an open goal.
They weren’t shallow entries.
Shouldn’t miss those

We still had lots of shots that would normally go in

But that's how it works - the forward line plays as a team: if Breust has a heavy tag, it allows the others to get free.

Unfortunately, Gunston had the chances but didn't have his kicking boots on.

or we need someone who can kick goals from a long way out; someone like Buddy maybe

Gunston's going to have to do some thinking about his goal kicking technique. I've posted about it before and it was highlighted by Jason Dunstall on Bounce. It's just not good enough.

Whitecross always gives his all at VFL level which is commendable, might get his first premiership medal if we can win next week
O'Rourke struggled a bit, but did well enough
D.Moore really showed some character and like he is starting to belong at the VFL level, a bit over a month ago he would be getting tackled and kicking into opponents, now he is standing up and making an impact
Cousins was a tough in and under player, his skills are lacking, but his effort is there
Willsmore playing his outside role like always, just VFL average
Glass does the same every week, he tries, he gets confused, he got hit, tried revenge and gave away a goal, just Irish things...
Jiath looks a lot better off the back flank, but he is VFL standard atm, with little improvement remaining
Pittonet was a real warrior in the ruck, fought hard all day, but needs more weapons on the field other than ruck taps and the occassional contest.
Brand did well, but also got beaten at times, took a nice mark and generally used it well
Lovell - im surprised he only got 14 poss, saw him get it a bit but never was impactful, except for that 50m goal at an important time.

Hanrahan had a good first half kicking 2 goals, went missing a bit in the 2nd half, but the commentators were raving about him, i think he did ok.
Lewis tried hard, but in big finals umps put away the whistle and key forwards just get fkd, he kicked a crumbing goal, contested a lot, had an average game
O'Brien actually played well, took a few marks, used it okish only a couple of turnovers which is good for him, set up some run from defence, overall positive game
Ross was quiet, couldnt get near the ball for the most part, he kicked 2 behinds, needs to bulk up big time, the guys chest is sunken for fks sake, just shove food into his gob, tell him to come back with high skin folds, the poor bugger needs to put on weight moreso than be fit...

out of all the performances the 2 that stood out were Dylan Moore and Whitecross, Hanrahan would have also been included but for his going missing for the 2nd half, their performance were actually highly valuable in the prelim.

Brand took some great intercept marks and helped set up at least two goals in doing so. Thought he was clearly in the best players personally.

Lovell was horrid in the first half, unsighted. His second half was great though. Would be interesting to see his stats for each half.

Jiath got himself to a lot of contests, and provided some nice run off half back. I've only seen a couple of Box Hill games, but certainly showed some good signs yesterday.

Moore was great. Some size would be beneficial.

I think Gunston's lost a lot of confidence in his kicking. He used to be a so accurate, and he's not there mentally: goal kicking is all about confidence.

He needs to stick to one method: just kick the drop punt and leave the round-the-corner stuff.

Some of the credit needs to go Jack Viney's way who was chasing hard... implied pressure and less time to steady running at full pelt
....and Salem ran 60m and came across from Gunston’s right at the last split second and I reckon that’s why Gunston pulled his kick tighter and into the post.

Good pressure, but wasn't enough to make Gunston miss 9/10 times. Also had the outlet handball open that he could of passed to. Clearly thought he was able, then messed it up.

Hope he spends all season working on repeat sprints and then kicking at goal (not that he needs the fitness, but just to stimulate the lactic aside to simulate match situations.

Patchy football with excellent moments but Far out... leadership was poor, no show players, exposed forward, midfield & defence.
Sad way to finish the year!
You can polish a tird as much as you like but a straight sets exit again & in the way we folded was pretty poor & a tird will always be a tird no matter how much you rub it.
Doc - miles
Shoey - TOB
Mirra - Brand

Another selection loss

* Schoey was average/ok...
Timmy has past form. That is all.
See you next year
**** MELBOURNE

Bit harsh on Mirra as i thought he did pretty well. hits his ttargets...doesnt turn it over like Brand and Frawley

SO these rumours of Burgoyne playing with a cracked rib and Titch playing with a broken collarbone... can any of this be substantiated?

Btw, my initial thought was an AC joint tear for Mitch. He definitely wasn't 100%, went to the rooms twice before quarter time, If I recall.

I'm curious to know what the "jab" is that they get to allow them to play through a game. Steroid or anesthetic or beta blockers. Clearly works but it makes you wonder how it's allowed and not deemed "performance enhancing"

Slept on it but I am still angry about last night.

I don't rate Melbourne and i think the Eagles will blitz them next week.

But we didn't give ourselves the best chance for victory.

Obviously the second quarter hurt badly. We had the ascendancy in the second half of the quarter and didn't make it count.

I don’t like to criticise Clarkson but I question the wisdom of replacing O'Meara with a defender. It felt we were one rotation short in midfield.

I hope Nash kicks on with his career because he was effectively gifted two finals. From what I saw over the past two weeks he is a long way short of AFL standard.

I have the strong feeling that we let that one slip. I can cop losing to the best team in the competition because a few years ago we did the same thing to other clubs.

But I dislike losing to a team like Melbourne that has some flaws. We didn't put pressure on them long enough last night both physically and on the scoreboard.

Really quite disappointed with the way the season ended.

Sums up how I feel as well (pretty much exactly). Could cop the loss to the Tigers they were terrific. We really had our chances to beat the Dees.

Sicily appeared to lack a bit of touch. Losing O'Meara and Stratton stung. Some strange selections. We may not have got much further than West Coast (neither will Melbourne) in all reality but we should have won this one. A very disappointing way to finish up 2018.

Have not whinged about umpires all year but gee there were few momentum killers which went against us.
