The whole team is sapped of confidence at the moment, comments wouldn't have been in their heads at all on the weekend.

Lachie had a very poor game but im expecting him to come out firing against the Tigers. Sam had a shocker and his footy smarts deserted him yesterday but think he'll be right.

You need confidence to be a good player and to play in a good side. The difference between Essendon of 2010 and 2011 is confidence. You look slow if you don't get enough of the ball or turn it over too much when going forward.

Clubs work hard on breaking into space from stoppages, when you win the ball and then turn it over it kills you on the scoreboard, it makes you look slow and it saps confidence. When we break from a stoppage with the ball our players running into space which means they are a long way from the opposition players, guys look slow because they are all of sudden turning around and running back after their man and thus look slow because they are a long way behind. The problem is the turnover which is a result of poor awareness, poor decision making and poor execution, this is often inflamed by poor confidence and fatigue.

The major impact Hird has was working on their endurance and skill level, if you are fit your skills do not drop off as much due to fatigue and when your skill level is high due to practice when it comes down due to fatigue it is still at a reasonable level to execute the game plan.

I don't think our skill level was high enough to begin with and drops off massive due to fatigue because we seem to have a lot of guys that can't run out quarters let alone games.

That has to be the focus of pre-season training. If we were hitting targets and scoring from our opportunities then our confidence wouldn't be shot like it is after round four.

All players have the skills, it is just conditioning through training that gives the players the confidence to perform when under pressure.

Brent Harvey as a leader of the club needs to be better than that.

He also has to be a bit smarter about his chosen targets, I don't know the guys who he targetted personally, but not every player is going to react in a positive manner to a public shaming.

I don't know if the comments had any impact on the performances of Hansen and Wright whatsoever, but as Captain and leader of the club the guy needs to think before he speaks, especially in to the media.

I love Boomer as a footballer, but his comments after the Collingwood game reaked of a selfish prick who was more concerned that he might not get to play finals footy.

I have never heard any player bag Boomer after his disgraceful game in Round 1 or the shocker he put in Round 2 last year. In fact you will usually find the reverse, with most players backing him by commenting that he is a champion and will bounce back.

FFS Moloney lost his vice captaincy because he got on the juice one night and that is nothing compared to publicly bagging your teamates, especially players that only have 50 games or less of experience to their name.

He carried on like a spoilt brat that wasn't getting his way, which is disgraceful for a club captain.

I don't distinguish between the sexes when it comes to ordinary behaviour and nor should you. I'm citing Caroline Wilson as an example. I'd also expect Kangafruity to appreciate that equality of treatment and it's also worth noting the personal barbs thrown my way by this poster, which I happily wear as a tribute.

As for Kangafruity, I gave him/her an out on the basis of frustration, but to keep pumping the same line days later, in fact, to rehash the story 2 weeks after it was put to bed internally at the club is quite ridiculous, pointless and hypocritical. What does she/he hope to gain by dredging this up? If Caro wrote an article about Boomer's comments now, we'd all be up in arms. It's done, it's tiresome, it's been dealt with.

I watched a movie on there recently that said this program may contain scenes of a sexual nature... the first freakin scene was a guy sucking himself off- bugger me don't they watch these shows they rate, would've only taken the first 10 seconds to up that movie to about ten xxxxxxx's .Yes I did turn off

Thanks roobear and roosurgence - I am indeed a chick but can take it from the best of them. However I don't believe that snrub or whatever he chooses to call himself these days is in that group. He says I personally attacked him but he does exactly the same thing to anyone who may disagree with anything that he says or the club line.
I am a long time loyal supporter of this club but because I put my hard earned in (and not just with memberships but in lots of other ways too) doesnt mean I have to tow the party line 100% of the time
My point of the post was that shaming blokes publicly doesnt work and the fact that we didnt play for 2 weeks means it wasn't relevant until we did, a fact lost on snrub obviously. I certainly don't need an out from him for anything I post and the fact that he isn't a mod means that he has no right to say what I can and can't post here just like everyone else.
I believed strongly that night that Brent did the wrong thing and still do and time will tell whether it has long lasting effects.
