I'm right amongst mate more than you'll ever be..i have plenty of idea..i call it it as i see it..WATCH the goddam tape... watch the single play break it down..if you think that Maynard WASNT impeded..then i'm heading off to spec savers for a new pair of glasses...
Even if you are right. You probably are they missed 4 easy shots on goal in quarter from memory in a row could been 3 goals up

How do you get over the hurt?
How do you pick yourself up? How can you go back into the office on Monday? How do you enjoy summer knowing what might have been?
How do you get over the hurt? Beer

Yes.
Club certainly gives you value for money. 43 finals campaigns in 126 years.
No club can boast that.
But not a dominant period (that included flags) like a modern day Geelong or Hawthorn. Willing to bet over last two decades regarding finals and flags, Cats, Swans, Hawks and maybe even Eagles have faired better.

Today a young and inexperienced squad lost the confidence to be:
- bold when needed
- creative when in possession
- aggressive in taking the offensive option
- and to take the game on in the last 10 minutes.

At no point during the day did I feel the game could not be won comfortably if we remained brave and aggressive with our running game as we did against Richmond.

They will learn a lot from the loss - and most importantly that the executing the game plan under all types of pressure is imperative, or the opposition will impose theirs.

We've had a great season, but today was shattering.

Not sure how they'd fit more than 100,000 into the G but they'd have to... As shit as we are at the moment we still have 50k members. A Carlton Collingwood GF would break all the records. Let's hope you and I see one soon mate

I would love to see it. Really like your list at the moment and see a lot of growth.

A few comments prior to going into hiding for summer to lick the wounds

1) dansa what a gentleman you are. Despite the heartbreak, great to meet and hope to have another beer with you at the footy next season..

2) Chris Mayne an apology from me. Playing your best game for the club in a GF shows your mental toughness

3) Is it okay for us to pinch a GF at least once Footy Gods...seriously

4) The team doing the blocking in marking contests no frees against. The team not doing it 2 frees against.

5) Who would have thought that a 31yo Melb reject doing his knee, would cost us a flag.

6) Congrats to the Eagles. You were the better team over the year, beat us 3 times, but I still would have liked to pinch it on the day - especially as we lead for 99% of the game.

7) To the knob Eagles supporter that sold my 14yo daughter a $1000 ticket (face value $250) for a seat you told us was at the front of level 4, rather than the 2nd last row at the top, you didn't deserve your side to win.

Enjoy summer guys and gals...see you next season.

I haven't posted this story on BigFooty before.

At the start of the 2005 season Nathan Buckley did a hammy in Round 1 against the Bulldogs. It was rumoured it might be the end of his career. The next week at school my teacher told me that the media was saying that Bucks might be forced to retire. I idolised Bucks. He was my hero and my favourite player. I started crying and crying. The teachers thought something must have happened to me at home so they called my mum. They didn't understand I could be so upset about the prospect of Bucks being forced into retirement.

That admiration for Bucks is still there. But the hero worship has been replaced with a level of pure respect for a man who has given everything to our club and who has displayed amazing personal growth over the last 18 months.

If Bucks leaves Collingwood without winning a premiership I'll look back on this day with so much regret and disappointment.

Your team were simply outstanding today. The players left nothing out there. Sometimes life/footy sucks unfortunately. I still have nightmares over '98 when we handed a premiership to the Crows (1.11 in second qtr, 2.17 at City end of the ground!!). Kudos for the class and dignity Buckley showed today.

I

I know it's chalk and cheese but seeing bucks stick it up the critics this year makes me hope bolts can do the same, if not next year maybe the year after

It'll come. Too much talent there for it not to. Cripps, Docherty, Marchbank, Ploughman, both Curnow's, McKay, Weitering, Fisher... the ingredients are there.

I must be the odd one out. I am not depressed, dissapointed yes that we got so close when I never expected us to even be in the GF proud beyond belief can't wait to next year. Salivating at thought of fully fit team

I feel the same but you’ve got to take your chances because you never know what will happen the next year after being in a GF. It was a massive missed chance today.

Just ask Adelaide and the Dogs, next year is no guarantee. Grundy could do a knee and our season would be over. But surely we are due for some injury good luck.

Im with you. I have never cried at the footy before, but after the final siren, myself and a couple strangers next to me in standing room were in tears. I have never felt so heartbroken, and thinking about this lost opportunity for our might club and especially Bucks, who I have idolised since a kid, was the dagger in the heart. But I love this club like you cant imagine, and I cant wait until we win the flag next year. This group is special.

The Richmond board is certainly enjoying our loss. They are REALLY really sad people.

Boys were huge today. Our stat's in grand finals are pretty appalling. But hey - we got there. And we got there on a year when basically everything that could go wrong did.
Bigger and better next year. Hopefully it is the loss that burns in the belly if this young side for the years to come, so they can create something special!

Thanks for sharing. Keep the faith mate.

We all should be disappointed with today........Bucks would definitely be.

Just wait till we cop our first pre season injury. Don't forget there are several players unavailable next year and yet others in need of a medical miracle to restore their former health. We need to recruit resilient skillful types with a bit of height. Sorry, just thought your yang needed a yin.
