Losses build resolve. The experience is invaluable for a developing group. Massive big stage players discovered who will learn, just as the eagles did in 2015.

Richmond were one hit wonders.

Hawks experienced prelim pain to you guys and 2012.

Having said this sidey, pendles and Grundy should be devastated tonight.

The best must perform on the big stage and they didn’t.

KOLOKOTRONIS

Grundy got worked over like Gawn last week, so he is not alone. Sidebottom was always going to get tagged after last week, but Pendles, Treloar and Thomas were awful. Need to learn how to kick into the 50 or don't bother playing mid.

Some of that delivery was terrible. Wouldn't matter if we had Tony Lockett in the F50 with that trash.

I'm hurting, but bugger me I'm as proud as punch. Just so gutsy right to the end. Congrats to the Eagles on the win. Bloody good side.

To the haters currently filling up my FB feed. A big FU to you. If there's one thing I pride myself on is not hanging shit on other peoples teams.

I'm sad, but... I mean, I'm really sad, BUT

A lot of young players who are only going to improve. We can come back. We might not, but we can. And if we do, then the experience of finals this year will really help us.

I know a close loss hurts much more, but it also shows that we were right in it. We could have won. So even though there are no guarantees, we should be more hopeful right now than Melbourne or Richmond, who people have at the top of their predictions for next year.

West Coast have been better all year. And we took it to them. I said early on that winning one final was a pass. So this is more than a pass. It hurts, but it's not a smack in the face like a 50 point loss. We know where we have to get to, now. Just have to go that extra step to get there.

Also this is obligatory so I guess I'll get it out of the way: umpires you slimy bastards **** right off with that non-call on the block at the end, plus getting them back in it in the first.

Why tf did we keep kicking to the same spot after every point and not switch the ball, spread the field, dumb footy, very dumb.

As I said in the game day thread my overwheming emotion is disappointment but I’m proud of the boys this year and today. In the end I think our boys got more nervous as the game went on and the Eagles had more composure late. We just didn’t take advantage of our opportunities and momentum when we had it.

My big hope is we don’t go making massive changes to our list or our system ala Adelaide last year. Obviously we need to keep improving, and to fine tune both our list and our system, but whole sale changes are not necessary. There are no guarantees in life and so who knows if we are going to get another opportunity, but there is plenty to feel optimistic about this year.

Was the biggest non free kick of the year. Eagles missed a lot of shots in the last.. but that is a sliding doors call right there.

Bitter lose to swallow ...
They could of sealed it in the last, missed three gettable shots....Let’s get back their next year Pies, great year by all accounts. We just need to get another key defender into club..
