So with Lake and Hall secured, what's left?

1. Need to sort out deals for Aker and Johnno.
2. Decide whether to keep eagleton or not (anything left in the pantry?)
3. I think S.Reid and O'Keefe are still unsigned.

Still talk of Nicoski coming and Everitt going. Not keen on Nicoski and definitely don't want Everitt to go to Saints. Would rather keep him or swap for Dowler who I doubt is even up for trade ... but you never know with Hawthorn.

My humble opinion is that we try and keep the list intact, it's pretty good . Eagleton to retire , trade of Everitt for a CHB, CHF type as mentioned on other posts and try and keep both Reid and O'Keefe.

I'd prefer to keep Everitt, provided he wants to stay....

If not, agree with you entirely....

I feel Everitt and Reid will stay. Aker will play on and Eagleton will retire.

O'Keefe is the interesting one. he has obviously been starved of oppurtunities and if a trade doesnt eventuate could he pop up in the uncontracted draft??

im behind eago. deserves another year, and there is no one better than him or deserving of his role who is able to replace him.
he will be on the vet list, making the salary cap issue easier and he strikes me as a guy who would take a pay cut for his club's benefit.
also read somewhere that all the boys are keen for him to stay and they really respect him.

so give him another year dogs (y)

Of our current playing list that is.

Who's still uncontracted?

Aker? Eagleton?

Reid, O'Keefe, Johnson, Akermanis and Eagleton yet to be signed.

Hall and Picken added to the main list and Eagleton will go onto the Vet list.

Wight, Skipper and O'Shea have been delisted.

If we do not participate any further in trade week, that will leave us with two selections in the draft(if we re-sign all of the above players).

In order of priority....

Aker and Johhno are pretty much a forgone conclusion.

Sam Reid's signature is pretty important IMO. I'll be pretty happy if we can sign him for 2 Seasons soon.

Decision on the Eagle.

On Johnson getting a new contract, what do people think he should be worth? I know he was very high up in the B&F which absolutely shocked me (I thought he would struggle to sneak into the top 10) but even on the veterans list I'd be thinking only a similar amount to Aker ($230,000) or maybe a tad more due to his long service to the club. Wouldn't want him on much more than that if it compromises our ability to keep Reid and O'Keefe.

Coach Rodney Eade said the Dogs were unlikely to seek any other trades this week.

"We think we've got some good youngsters that have played some games now that can step up next year," he said.

"We thought it would be great if we could get a key forward, which we've got in Barry Hall.

"It's now just a matter of re-signing other players, so that's about what we'll do. We think the list we've got is pretty good at the moment.

"Unless there are some other clubs that are interested in some players that might not be here next year, that's about it from our point of view."

Disappointing really. In the frenzy that happens between 1-2pm on Friday anything can happen. I just hope Eade and co go in to that final day with an open mind. We might just grab another bargain.

Griffen and Cooney don't seem to have come up in the news much for the Gold Coast team which suggests either they're not really keen on them :)confused:) or they have inquired but the boys told them to go away. Sam Reid is a chance to go, will be interesting to see if he signs a 1 or 2 year deal. Of the others they won't go after Roughead, Cordy or Jones - they are well covered already with young KPP and rucks, while Hill and Harbrow are players they could target for lots more $$.

Johnson has signed a 1 year deal.

Everitt to the Eagles for Ashley Hanson - you heard it here first.
Do you know how much the Johnson deal was? And no I heard it on SEN at about 2am last night. Its almost as bad as a 3way deal giving us Mark Williams for Everitt.

We need more than two selections in the draft Chef. We only drafted three last year. We are going to have massive gaps in our list going forward if we keep only drafting two or three a year.

In hindsight, we should have drafted more than three players last year IMO. Especially as it was a vintage crop.

I don't agree. If the talent isn't there, whats the point. I would prefer to keep Everitt/O'Keefe on our list for another season rather then draft someone just because of there age.

In the first pre-season match I want to see Williams and Bourmann with a chance to play the KPD positions. We always seem to play Sydney or Essendon so would be good for them to go up against White/Goodes as an athletic combo or Hurley/Neagle/Gumby as a young PF combo. Just for fun then, how good would it be just for 1 game to see Lake and Hall both in the forward line:D

I wonder how many less threads/posts of 'Lake to FF' we'll have this year with Hall there.

I would rather keep our talented youth such as Everitt, O Keefe, Lynch etc on our list too. I am not advocating for them to be delisted or traded. But I do think we need at least three selections in this years draft. Otherwise we will end up with huge gaps in the future, given we only took three draftees last year. Unless we use the rookie list as a quasi draft.
