They weren't the best songs in that playlist but they had the cool factor of Ian Curtis and Ginger Baker.

I only gave 2 votes to Ye Ye De Smell because Ginger Baker was attached to it, I wouldn't know Fela Kuti if I fell over him.

Then I gave a vote to Joy Division because I couldn't find anything better to give a vote to and Joy Division are at least cool if nothing else.
Dude... Fela Kuti is way cooler than Ginger Baker

He wasn't played on Triple J or Rage in the 90's, but I can assure you his legacy is far greater than Sparklehorse

Maybe they weren't the best "songs" on the playlist, but people voted for them because they love the music
Glen Campbell's "Try a Little Kindness" is a great song, but nobody voted for it because they didn't like the 70's Country western music

Nominations must not be any longer than the time it takes to cook up a portion of the above, i.e. three minutes or less.

No previously nommed songs please. Link to list is in the first post of this thread. The onus is on you to check.

Noms due 8:00pm Monday.

I don't agree with all the thread-hate for Linkin Park's "In The End"

Say what you want about the band and Top 40 nu-metal... but that is a genuinely great song

Would it take an accoustic cover by Tom Waits for you donuts to realise that?

Linkin Park were mostly garbage, "In The End" was one of their only songs that ever really mattered.

Limp Bizkit was a far better nu metal band from that era.

This song is like Bohemian Rhapsody compared to "In The End"'.

Fela Kuti would have had to have been a f***ing snowman to be cooler than Cream back in the late 60s.

Jack Bruce with a ciggie stuck in his guitar fret, even Keith Richards wouldn't have had the audacity to pull that off.

Why does it now take 3 minutes to cook 2 minute noodles?

Another Cream classic which is less than 3 minutes.

Time to move on to the next theme, you won't beat that.

Daylight savings.

In other words, you didn't listen to the playlist.

I listened to it, I thought Ye Ye De Smell was one of the more enjoyable or least objectionable songs in it.

Ginger Baker's name got an extra vote or two from me I'll admit but most people here vote on name.

That Joy Division song was pretty ordinary but still made top 2 because it was f***ing Joy Divison.

Divinyls shit all over Joy Divison and they got a lousy 7 votes, Joy Divison's cooler though.

Probably not the right singer to get your point across, BOO.

Not terribly appreciated by some round these parts is old Tom.

****ing awesome band.

And if anyone did want to nominate Cream, you've just harpooned one of the few songs they did that actually run under 3 minutes.

You seem to be suggesting that people voted on names but the songs weren't great.

Then next line you say you only gave something votes because of a name. Woot????

And since when does not knowing who someone is have anything to do with the votes anyway?

While the guys from Cream were sticking ciggies in their fretboards and sticking needles in their arms, Fela Kuti was busy inventing a whole new genre of music and actively opposing his country's brutal military dictatorship. He also had 27 wives. He didn't need to steal his best mate's wife (like Clapton did to George Harrison)

I was going to nom this song this theme, but I actually wanted to get some eyes and ears on an artist/song I love so thought better of it.

Absolute banger of a track this one. Cattle Decap go alright live.
