We've already got plenty of u23 talent on our list - just over 50% of the list is 22 and under. We've stocked up heaps at the draft the past 4 years and are actively getting games into most of them.

But we only have 8 players in the 23-27 range which is why targeting players in the age bracket is important to help fill the gap between the senior core and the young players.

Reality is at St Kilda he’s brought in Stocker, Dow and now Carroll. One was a SSP signing, one was a DFA and the other you gave up next to nothing for.

FA was never going to work for the smaller Vic clubs, big players will always go to bigger Vic clubs or their home state clubs.

The Saints will be stuck in a perpetual cycle of having players picked off and then having to redraft ala the smaller clubs in the Premier League.

Aren't the AFL looking at bending the rules to make sure Sydney get all their academy players this year?
But i totally understand why the AFL does it, We all know Sydney has historically had a hard time drafting and getting trade targets

I think the ceiling of the saints fully fit list against the fully fit lists of other clubs is about 10th.

I think that’s pretty accurate with a good injury run I think we could sneak into the 8 ,but that’s what people don’t realise the difference between finishing 8th or in the bottom 4 has never been smaller so many clubs evenly spread
